I love long hair, but I don't have it (though I do consider myself a hippie). Mine just looks better the way it is.
Most of the posts, in this thread, mention "non-conformity" against THE ESTABLISHMENT, as a main reason for why HIPPIES had long hair. But this only applied to MALE HIPPIES. It didn't matter if FEMALE HIPPIES had long hair, as LONG HAIR was socially-acceptable on girls and women. But what about that BEE-HIVE (aka "MARGE SIMPSON") hairdo, on supposedly "conservative-straight" women (of the 60's)? That was considered "CONFORMING"!??? HIPPIE girls/women were mostly criticized for their ANTI-ESTABLISHMENT "HIPPIE" beliefs like: (anti-war, psychedelic drug use, communal life styles, lack of hygiene, etc.), and sometimes dressing in more "loose" and "comfortable" clothes - sometimes wildly-colored, as 50's/60's-type clothes were more "tight" and "conservative". HIPPIE woman's hair met acceptable standards (for the 60's), if clean and combed, but other things they believed in, did and wore, were not. "shameless_heifer" mentioned in her post: "The Originals grew hair to show individuality, our nonconformity to the establishments way of thing.. having rigid dress codes and being humiliated publicaly when not adhered to." How very true, for THAT time period! GUYS had short hair and girls had long hair. Boys wore pants and girls wore dresses. Of course, it was THE NORM for guys to have LONG HAIR in ancient times, but was THEN, and this was the 1960's! In the 60's time period LONG HAIR on woman wasn't really NON-CONFORMING! But what was a NON-CONFORMING hairstyle for women of the 60's? ANSWER: It was having SHORT-HAIR! MIA FARROW (the actress) caused a big sensation when she cut her hair real short, "just like a BOY"! Oh boy, what a SCANDEL there! Then, she starred in that very controversial ROMAN POLANSKI movie: ROSEMARY'S BABY (1968). The TV version of ROSEMARY'S BABY, didn't show MIA FARROW naked in bed, having sex with "the baby's FATHER", but the UNRATED version did! I saw the UNRATED version, from a VIDEO STORE rental, and saw what the baby's FATHER of ROSEMARY'S BABY looked like! If you DARE, go to this link ,and see a picture entitled "Iyano (him)", as it's VERY SIMILAR to the movie version: "REPTILIANS By: Miesha Johnson" LINK: www.hiddenmysteries.org/themagazine/vol5/reptilians/reptilians.shtml For a picture of: MIESHA JOHNSTON, go to this related link: "STAR FAMILY SUPPORT GROUPS by Miesha Johnston" LINK: www.hiddenmysteries.org/themagazine/vol5/reptilians/meisha.shtml ROSEMARY'S BABY (1968) was FICTIONAL, however, MIESHA JOHNSON's sex encounter with a REPTILIAN-HUMANOID (ALIEN?) is claimed as very real! In Miesha Johnson's "REPTILIANS" article she says: "Bizarre as it may seem, there are the many cases of women who have on-going relationships with reptilians. This may be very hard to understand, but this does exist, as these women do have a strong connection to what might be referred to as their reptilian lovers. The women remark that it is the best sex they ever had." Watch out Earth-human MALES!!! Another woman - PAMELA STONEBROOKE (a 52-year old jazz singer, who was working as a high-powered celebrity agent in Houston, Texas) claimed to have a 3-year long sexual relationship with a REPTILIAN-HUMANOID ALIEN, and even has small "scoop marks" on her legs to prove she was "genetically tested" on a spaceship! PAMELA STONEBROOKE'S alien-sex encounters were featured on a: THE DISCOVERY CHANNEL special, entitled: "World's Strangest UFO Stories". PAMELA described her alien-love-making as: "My first sexual encounter with an alien was unlike any love-making I've experienced before. It was so intense and enjoyable and, without wanting to get too graphic, he was so much larger than most men." To see a beautiful picture of PAMELA STONEBROOKE (nice SOUTHERN BELLE look!), PLUS, an illustration of what her REPTILIAN-HUMAN ALIEN lover looked like (What a "package" on that guy!), go to this link: LINK: www.crystalinks.com/aliensex.html There are many more woman who claim to have similar such alien-sex encounters. Men too, claim to have such alien-sex encounters, but with more HUMAN BEING-looking types, with CREDO MUTWA (Zulu SHAMAN, as an example.) ROSEMARY'S BABY is supposedly based on TRUTH??!! REPTILIAN-DNA aliens have no hair, like lizards and snakes have no hair. However, many MAMMALIAN-HUMAN DNA ALIENS do have LONG HAIR, but some more MAMMALIAN ALIENS are TOTALLY HAIRY ( BIG FOOT/YETI-types). MANY ASTRAL "spiritual masters" have LONG HAIR too, so have some HIPPIES used these as a "role-model" to strive after, i.e. the more "truely-spiritual" HIPPIES (and not the "copy-cats")? JESUS FREAK HIPPIES aspire to be "CHRIST-like", so they "model" themselves after the look of JESUS! Is there a SPIRITUAL MYSTICISM associated with LONG HAIR? Could be. So, in the 60's time-period, MIA FARROW's short (boy-like) haircut was very NON-CONFORMING, for a woman back then. Plus, that ROMAN POLANSKI movie: ROSEMARY'S BABY movie-thing! I suppose the movie implied that she "humped THE DEVIL", but according to my previously-mentioned (supposedly true-life encounters, with alien-sex), she "humped" a REPTILIAN-HUMANOID ALIEN (REPTOID)?! In the NEW WAVE/PUNK/GOTHIC 1980's WOMEN's (and MEN's) hairstyles went REALLY NON-CONFORMING!!! Who can forget those tall MOHAWKS, sometimes hair-dyed in wild colors! Many "punker chicks" dyed their hair all colors, with BLUE being a favorite. Imagine the shock of the 1980's hairstyles in the rigid, conservative 1960's? I was NEW WAVE/PUNK, then. No MOHAWKS for me, though, maybe short-SPIKEY hair! Another NON-CONFORMING women's hairstyle is the old BALDY look. SINEAD O'CONNER was famous for this one! SINEAD did MIA, one better! How about more recently, with BRITANY SPEARS! Of course, some women actresses play SCI-FI roles and have to go BALD for the PART (or maybe just have a bald wig), like RAELEE HILL'S role as: SIKOZU (a SCARREN alien), who was BALD, BLUE and BEAUTIFUL (in the hit SCI-FI TV series: FARSCAPE)! HIPPIE WOMEN having LONG HAIR is not very NON-CONFORMING, but MOHAWKS and going BALD is!!! Of course for men, going BALD is called just OLD AGE and mostly bad genetics! MOHAWKS are almost always NON-CONFORMING! But it isn't HIPPIE! It's that "mark of identity" thing - STEREOTYPING. Go check out the TV series: FARSCAPE and sport some of those ALIEN "do's" (i.e. hairdos)! Ya, let's start a new hair style TREND with alien hairstyles! Or did the 1990's RAVE FEMALES already do that? If I let my hair grow out more, and shampoo most of the oil out of my hair ("to friz it out"), I'd be looking like that female ALIEN character on FARSCAPE, called CHIANA, who plays an alien woman from the NEBARI Star Nation (played by Gigi Edgley). Do NEBARI men have the same hairstyle as CHIANA? That's my natural hairstyle - CHIANA (NAROBI) hair! Hair "does its thing'! EINSTEIN'S THEORY OF RELATIVITY: "You can't compare phenomenom to itself, but only in relationship to other phenomenon." This just means you have to compare given hairstyles, to some respective time-period, as in one time period: The 50's/60's - LONG HAIR on MALES was considered TABOO, or NON-CONFORMING, but in ANCIENT TIMES and NOW, it isn't a big deal, it's just accepted. LONG HAIR on MEN is no longer NON-CONFORMING (in our current time-period), but with a tie-dye, T-shirt, it becomes a "mark of identity", as a HIPPIE. Wear whatever hairstyle you feel most comfortable with, or wish to "shock" someone with! If LONG HAIR suits you, ENJOY IT and feel beautiful, go for it. It's like the RUSSIAN-comedian JACOB (Yah-Kob) SMIRNOFF says: "Whatever turns you on!" What OTHER NON-CONFORMING hairstyle posssibilites are there? As FAR as future NON-CONFORMING hairstyles go, let's go FARSCAPE!!! Peace, love and understanding . . .
This is COMPLETELY and politically incorrect... But... I really prefer women with long hair. An overweight woman with a "butch" haircut screams loudly that they might be the "male" half of a lesbian relationship. While this might be improper to post, this is the way society sees things. I know, I know... But short doesn't look good on everyone.... Why does there have to be a reason to have long or short hair. The fact is, we tend to stereotype ourselves. We all seem to look like those we associate with. Probably why you can't tell the good politicians from the bad ones. Used to be an old joke about wingtip shoes to help in that area.... I have long hair because I choose to, not because I am making a statement to society. Someone made a statement about rednecks having long hair.... Nothing shows inbreeding more than seeing mullet haircuts on half of the people (men and women) in poor white southern towns. Crustys, Hippies, Roaddogs, Rockers, Rappers, etc.... They (we) all have a look we prefer and matches the social status we are or wish to be have. The way we look tells the world who we are. It has always been that way and I believe it always will be.
In many cultures and in history, long hair was a sign of manliness and strength, but in many other cultures (Including ours, at least the majority, it seems) long hair is a sign of feminism and just being un-masculin. Aztecs cut there hair after killing 4 people in battle, as a sign of becoming a warrior. But I like my hair and dont give a toss what people say, narrow-minded dicks if you ask me.
hey man peaceful chaos, i've been ragged on for having some what long hair, but i just give them this answer. Jesus hadlong hair, did doesn't always work, so i just ignore it. but it pisses me off how everyone classifies guys with long hair, as faggots. i have long hair, and i'm not a faggot. peace and much love
Funny... I never had that problem... Maybe because I'm such a womanizer... I did (when I was much younger and had no beard) have a guy come up to me from behind and say, "Excuse me ma'am....." I turned around and he went ghost white... It was really funny... I think guys with short hair and a cop mustache look more gay then anything...
my hair will never be long enough for me I'm convinced. Its almost down to my ass and friends contstantly tell me I need to cut it or brush it or something. . but I like it long and curly and crazy. It gives me something to paly with, I can tie it up with scarves or put things in it. I dunno I just think long hair is amazing
Who the hell cares? There's nothing wrong with having long or short hair. Just because you have short hair, does not necessarily mean you are conforming to society. If you grow your hair long just based on the idea "hippies have long hair" than you're just conforming to something else. Hippies had long hair way back when to refuse conformity because society looked down on men who had long hair, now our society is very different. If you grow your hair because you want to look liek a hippy, now oyu're just trying to be 'something'. Just be yourself, if you like having long hair, have long hair, if you like it short have short hair. Calling someone an idiot for asking a simple question seems really unnecessary.
Long hair keeps ya warm in the winter and is great to cuddle up in (when you have alot of it!) I haven't had my hair cut in about three years but the truth is, it's because I can't be bothered to have it cut! lol I don't like the hair dressers where I live, full of stuck up women who look down on everyone. I could just get a friend to do it, but I've grown to like it (sorry for the pun) I know alot of hip people who have really short hair and they're just as beautiful inside and out. I am completely hair addicted though. I saw a girl with hair to her ankles once ( a complete stranger) and I walked right up to her and asked her how she got it that long (if there were any secrets or tips I should know about!) The way I see it, people should make the most of hair while they still can. One day you might not have any Peace and love brothers and sisters xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
I've been growing my hair since I was either 5, or 6 doing the math... I just like it. Simple as that,
short/no hair is morenviromentally friendly. im thinking monk style. less to maintain. less to transport. x's like a zillion people x's a zillion actions.
I've had long hair since I was 3 years old, always passed my hips.. it just feels natural for me, I like my hair. No specific reason for me either then I actually like it better long. My boyfriend has long hair aswell for similair reasons, also that he had it since he was very young and also t hat he just prefers the looks of it.
