Cate, have you checked out inforoo or bonnaroo.com? They have a great community, and there are a lot of rideshare opportunities for many places throughout the world. Even if you go alone, you'll never feel like it. I've had doubts about going again this year....but I might, if I get a volunteer spot. I am, on the otherhand, for sure going to 10klf and Rothbury, a new music/environmental festival in Michigan. It's suppose to be reminiscent ala Roo 05. Here's the lineup: DAVE MATTHEWS BAND + WIDESPREAD PANIC + JOHN MAYER + 311 + PHIL LESH AND FRIENDS + PRIMUS + THIEVERY CORPORATION + SNOOP DOGG + MODEST MOUSE + MICHAEL FRANTI AND SPEARHEAD + GOV'T MULE + STS9 + COLBIE CAILLAT + SLIGHTLY STOOPID + THE BLACK KEYS + KELLER WILLIAMS AND THE WMD'S + YONDER MOUNTAIN STRING BAND FEATURING JON FISHMAN + GOGOL BORDELLO + CITIZEN COPE + THE DISCO BISCUITS + MEDESKI MARTIN AND WOOD + RAY LAMONTAGNE + DEREK TRUCKS AND SUSAN TEDESCHI SOUL STEW REVIVAL + DRIVE-BY TRUCKERS + OF MONTREAL + ETOWN RADIO SHOW + THE DRESDEN DOLLS + GOMEZ + BRETT DENNEN + TAJ MAHAL + MIKE GORDON + ZAPPA PLAYS ZAPPA + CRYSTAL METHOD DJ SET + JJ GREY & MOFRO + THE GREYBOY ALLSTARS + THE SECRET MACHINES + RAILROAD EARTH + BETH ORTON + JAKOB DYLAN AND THE GOLD MOUNTAIN REBELS + A3 + BETTYE LAVETTE + EMMITT NERSHI BAND + LOTUS + EOTO + PANJEA WITH MICHAEL KANG + YARD DOGS ROAD SHOW + STATE RADIO + THE BEAUTIFUL GIRLS + SAGE FRANCIS + TEA LEAF GREEN + BASSNECTAR + PNUMA TRIO + DIPLO + FLOSSTRADAMUS + THE JUAN MACLEAN + THE DYNAMITES FEATURING CHARLES WALKER + DJ REKHA + DEAD CONFEDERATE + MOTION POTION + DJ ROOTZ + SOJORN + BUSDRIVER ...and more to be announced.
Dunno, as far as i know bonaroo has gone completly commercial and would be no fun with a tight budget. Only person im keen to see there would be BB king.
im actually goin this year! its a graduation present from my folks otherwise it would pain me to spend so much on something so frivolous. but i figure its everlasting memories so why not..
although i must say i am dissapointed with the lineup. i really should have gone last year... i wanted to see ween =[
so, instead of led zeppelin as they had announced for MONTHS, you get some tribute band called lez zeppelin??????? okay..... the lineup sounds pretty decent for bonnaroo, but I think the one in michigan sounds so much better.... it has primus, after all...... here is the lineup for wakarusa......... for all those that care...... * The Flaming Lips * Emmylou Harris * CAKE * Zappa Plays Zappa * Mickey Hart Band featuring Steve Kimock & George Porter Jr. * Keller Williams * Leftover Salmon * David Grisman Quintet * Blackalicious * Buckethead * Bettye LaVette * Ozric Tentacles * Lotus * Galactic * The Everyone Orchestra * Old 97's * Alejandro Escovedo * Yard Dogs Road Show * Porter Batiste Stoltz * Ivan Neville’s Dumpstaphunk * Tea Leaf Green * The Avett Brothers * Split Lip Rayfield * Dr. Dog * State Radio * Brett Dennen * Arrested Development * Del The Funkyhomosapien * Panjea featuring Chris Berry and Michael Kang * EOTO feat Michael Travis & Jason Hann of SCI * Donna the Buffalo * Delta Nove * Tilly and the Wall * Apollo Sunshine * Pete Francis (of Dispatch) * DVJ Mike Relm * Limbeck * Steel Train * Trombone Shorty and Orleans Avenue * Robert Bradley's Blackwater Surprise * The Dynamites feat Charles Walker * Ryan Bingham * The Gourds * Truckstop Honeymoon * Backdoor Slam * Cornmeal * Future Rock * South Austin Jug Band * The Heavy Pets * Blue Turtle Seduction * Giant Panda Guerilla Dub Squad * Chicago Afrobeat Project * Family Groove Company * Madahoochi * Bump * Macpodz * Jennie Arnau

I see a couple awesome bands / musicians on that one, too. God damnit. I want to go to all these festivals.
wakarusa is in my backyard, but I only went the first year.... its difficult for me to go, with work and such......... but this year sounds tight with cake and the lips....... two bands I want to see, and havent seen. and I would love to see dweezil doin zappa tunes. a friend of mine saw that show in KC (zappa doin zappa), and said it was amazing
i think the lineup for bonnaroo sounds pretty fucking badass, and it's just such a free awesome festival. i love tennessee. i'm getting tickets if i can afford them but i still have to get tickets for acl. i live in austin so i have no excuse not to go.
