I had long hair. Down just past my shoulders, was GOING to get dreads, but ended up compulsivly cutting my hair a few months back. My hairs about two inches now. Now for the question, grow my hair long, then dread? or wait till its just long enough to dread, and dread them short? I have heard they come out better when you do them short.. But i want to hear from the professionals.
mine started at 2-4 inches i guess dunno if it matters all that much though they'll get shorter....then longer...probly the longer they are when ya start the more they'll shrink before they grow
thanks. I have seen pictures of your dreads, and wow. Just out of curiosity, how long have you been growing them for?
i'm thinking of dreading my hair again, but since it's so short the best option seems to let them come naturally.
that is what i was thinking of doing originaly. but sadly i have a job that wil probably not appreciate the messy hair. So i pretty much would need to go straight to the results. I would rather do it natural, but its not a choice. Its sad how society has set such high standards on the way they perceive people. Oh well, i guess ill just see what happens.
if you want to get dreads but some job is holding you back your spirituality is obviously far more important than pleasing some greedy assholes. There are plenty of jobs/occupations you can obtain that won't give a fuck about your hair. it's your choice what do you want? impress some idiots or have some dreads? I chose dreadlocks, and I make 20+$ an hour as a recording engineer.
You're 15 Jah. You have PLENTY of Job opportunities and you're not even in a steady career, you can alter your jobs as frequent as I do my mind. Personally, if you are growing dreads for Spiritual reasons, then DON'T compromise. But if it's just for the look, then let your hair grow and backcomb. Otherwise, I recommend natural. It's what I'm doing and the ride it takes me through daily is great!
just ask and you'll receive from the universe, man. i had a job dreadlocks were fine for, combed them out, got a different job, and now i've stumbled upon a great job that won't care if i have them. so it may be the right time. i'm hoping they won't mind me wearing a tam every day, is all.
dreads aren't going to be neat for a long time. go natural, wear a tam or hat or bandana at work, if they let you.
