I honestly believe in it, but, I just wanted to get other peoples opinions or see if they had this power. Does anyone believe/have the power of making things happen with their finger, blowing on a candle wick and having it lite up? Those sort's of things...................... Kind of like, in the movie Practical Magic.
Well when you put it that way, just wave a finger and light up some incense to control the universe, then it sounds weird and flaky... I guess the more proper way of looking at it is that you work with the universe, not controlling how it works... The problem with movies is that it makes it look like anything new agey is a form of mind control where you brainwash others to have your way and it's not that way at all...
Never seen the movie but I don't put much stock in media representation of, well anything really. Fact is likely to discarded for a good story/effect. Certainly never experienced anything like that, but you never know it's early days.
I believe that everything is an illusion anyway and that everything is represented that way we would like it to be. so spells do work as its simply a way for us to send out a mental image of what we would like. the real question is what and how should we work with the power that we all have inside us as human beings. we can do so much more than light candle flames. good magick users should keep a good store of healing thoughts and matches! S
that takes a lot of understanding, power is nothing without the knowledge and wisdom to go along with it. I can barely even perceive energy fields, but I have felt the power before, I just lack the understanding to go with it. It can take a lifetime or more to develop the awareness. You can only go as far as that which you can percieve
I have never seen anyone actually reap immediate and tangible results from magic. I can percieve the energy which binds us and the universe together and I can feel it move when ritualizing or when others attempt to access what you would term "powers." That is enough for me. Once, I stood barefoot on a hilltop on a relatively clear day with my eyes closed, meditated for a time and when I raised my arms a cool wind blew, signalling the coming of the storm which came not long after. I attribute this only to my sensitivity to barometric pressure (which anyone could percieve, if they took the time to recognize it) - I could feel it coming long before I even took my shoes off and merely wished to discover if I was sensitive enough to 'feel' the wind blow the moment before it hit me. I already knew the wind was coming. Others who had done the same thing might think they had summoned the storm. I'm simply not egocentric enough to come to that conclusion. While I am Pagan, I find many of the beliefs that others hold in supernatural events to be somewhat silly. For instance, I have never known any person who claimed to remember a past life that was not some important personage (royalty, a priest/ess, etc.). Not one person I ever spoke to who 'remembered' a past life was a slave or other 'non-entity.' This has always made me question the validity of such memories. It seems to me, that if such memories were possible, we would remember past lives as alien entities on other worlds. Why would we only remember earthly lives when the universe is so large and the possibilities for our other incarnations to even be earthly seems to be quite against the odds; unless our spirit force or soul or what-you-will were somehow bound by the gravitic force of this planet (which seems highly unlikely to me). I can't rationally distingush the biospheric energy of this world from that of the universe-at-large. It's all the same to me.
I think magic is making something happen in accordance with your will. If you accept that there is lots of magik in your everyday life. Psyco Cybernetics anyone?
