i really liked this movie and i've been trying to find it but i don't know the name. if someone recognises it please post the tittle or the imdb link. i'm going to trie to tell u what i can remember from it (i saw it on tv a long time ago). it goes something like this: a family of astrology enthusiasts are in the dessert looking at stars trough a telescope, and the sun finds a star that shouldn't be there. they send the picture to a specialist friend of theirs and he tells them it's not a star it's a commet or asteroid on it's way to hitt earth. the commet is verry far away (years away i think), so the governments of all the countries of the world have time to make bunkers where to preserve their civilisation, butt allsow to prepare a mission to try to distroy the commet. eventually i remember the commet is split in two (it was like that or:-?? i don't know)...the ideea is that there are tow commets a bigger one and a smaller one. the crew of the space shuttle manage to distroy the big one by sacrificeing themselves. some out of context details: -the boy who discoveres the commet gets married to his girlfriend so she could join him in the bunker -there's a reporter who thought she was discoveryng a scandal becouse she kept hearing the word "ele" from the white house, and she tought ele was the mistress of the prime minister (i think). she later found out that E.L.E. ment extinction level event, and that they where talking about the commet (they did not tell the public about the commet. -i think it was a little like armagedon becouse i remember they where on the commet and they where driling a holle for a nuke that's all i can remember sorry if it's too much to read for those who are not interested, or too little for those who want to help me. please help!!! i've been searching for this movie for a long time...i can't find it on my own
I believe you are thinking of "Deep Impact" 1998, Tea Leoni, I think Gordon Freeman, and that kid that was in Lord of the Rings.....
and it sounds like it made a "deep impact". hehehahehaha. Man, I think I'm going off the deep end today. I just wonder what kind of impact I'm going to make when I hit. Actually, that movie had some pretty freaky scary running from the tidal wave scenes that I took to heart, and now I go out of my way to avoid comets, tidal waves...the whole shebang!
