I have a cat, named Midnight, and she's like 13 or 14 years old. She's always been pretty weird like chasing something thats not there and eating chinese food. But lately. She has gotten crazy. Heres what she does
She'll be upstairs all by herself and she starts crying really loud. She'll grab something off of the table like a bag of cough drops or a granola bar, anything really. And she carries it around for a little while, then drops it off the table, and cries real loud looking at whatever she had picked up.
It's so strange. I think she might be remembering when she had kittens and carrying them around and all. But I dunno. Has this ever happened to someone else's cat?

Personally, i would keep an eye on her/him. The cat is 13/4. I'm not saying anything is wrong. But that is a really good age and fragile age as well. Has anything happened to the cat that would trigger this? Cats i don't think can remember that much i think a book said 10 sec not even. Recently, my 13 y/o cat has been having trouble seeing, so i have to keep n the back of my mind that when i get up , i have to reassure her i'm here pet her or something rather. She never misses that soft food though;-)

I truly believe this is simply a normal behavior for any feline and only they may ever know the true reason for their particular idiosyncrasy. I have had my critters do some pretty outlandish things and I am of the belief that if it causes them or others no harm and provides them with a form of enjoyment, then the more power to them and they have my full support and understanding.

I have to say that your Midnight sounds like a really cool cat in every possible way!

might be a maternal memory or instinct acting up on her. keep a watchful eye on her, she is getting old but if shes healthy no reason she can still have years to come

I think she's merely trying to get your attention. I had a cat that would knock things off my dresser every morning to wake me up.
