Everyone knew what LSD was in the 60's. Kids, parents, grandparents... It was on the news and on the cover of magazines. Half the world was saying its great and the other half said its the worst thing you could ever put in your body. Its amazing how well the government stomped it out, better than any other drug. After making it illegal in 1966, Washington made it harder and harder for the public to obtain Ergot to make PURE d-LSD25, so lesser un-purified analagous molecules began to take its place. Though this modern synthetic acid is still everywhere, has anyone noticed that no one even knows what acid is anymore?

I hear people using words like "trippy" and "psychedelic" all the time but they have no clue what they're saying. I believe LSD was erased from our culture, and very deliberately.

    Any thoughts?

(My thought is - thank heavens we have the internet...and forums!)

san pedro cactus doesnt quite do the trick though, you gotta chug so much nasty cactus juice to get near even 1 tab of LSD

but no it certainly was erased. Mushrooms are getting more and more popularity where I'm at, lsd may works it way back.

i agree with the origional poster--the gov't has attempted to stamp it out of our culture--easier to keep people under control that way. god forbid the populous thinks for themselves!

for my area, its the unavailability of it that makes people unable to do it. when i started getting bottles and mass quantities people started suddenly seeming more interested and the people in my town started doing a lot more. now iv written that i dont think its relevant lol but yer the government managed to kill lsd rather effortlesly as it seems, if only they were that effective at killing addictive drugs the world would be a better place.
i know what you mean though to some extent, i hear people saying whoah! im tripping balls when on weed or pills and i just think, you dont know the meaning of the word.
when i was beiung tought about the 60's and all the things that came with it at school even my teacher was completely mis informed on the use of acid and how it came about. she was a little worried when i put her right in great detail but meh lol

Not up here...it comes in waves and when its around, it's around for a while. Most people wo use drugs around my area have at least tried it...me and my close group of friends suck it down every weekend when its here. I'm trying to limit my use to every summer at fests now, so it really doesnt matter to me if its around my area or not at this point. I think it depends where you live mostly.

just because we still eat it doesn't mean it hasn't been erased from our culture. it's not something imo the powers that be want the little man to know about.

Why wouldn't they try to erase it? Look what happened last time it got big, we tried to start a revolution. It would be awesome if it was more easily accessible as it was in the 60's, maybe we'd try to start another revolution. The settings essentially the same, and everyone hates the government now just like back then.

yes but it was still everywhere in the 70's. And also it experienced quite a surge in availability and populatiry in the early 90's (or so ive gathered from anictdotes of some old phish heads that i know).

    funny you mention that...

Tim Learly spent the latter part of his life surfing the interent; he dubbed it "the LSD of the new millenium". If you think about it, he was right. Minds can be expanded with a click of mouse and a stroke of a keyboard. Obviously, popping a tab now and again doesnt hurt. But people dont need acid to see through the bullshit anymore. Constant access to the world around us plays a role in that as well. Still, alot of people are blissfully ignorant regardless...but the option for mental expansion is there if you utilize it; it just takes some time and effort. (and studying).

That is kind of wierd if you think of it, not how DSL and LSD are the same 3 letters, but that it can be very mind opening.

LSD is all over the place! You just have to be an acid person, and it'll find you! Don't get discouraged. Go to places where there is good music and there will be LSD. It's not like a "drug" your local dealer will have. Acid travels. It's like a family.

what do you mean by modern synthetic lsd? the term psychedelic or trippy doesnt really have to only acid either.

before the 60ies the average person didnt have a clue about psychedelic drugs or even knew at all about them, when it showed it's face it freaked a buncha people out, i mean this crazy chemical that turns freedom loving american youth into dirty long haired peaceniks reeking of patchouli and nag champa.

at this current time acid really is as they say (whoever they are) "old hat"

claims of insanity and permanent trips have led people to think that shrooms are a natural alternative and since shrooms are natural it must be best, this trend isn't limited to mushrooms either.

the acid isn't gone, the family still runs, theres hella around it's just hard to find.

    ^its everywhere...

It's just something that doesnt come through into the average drug users array of substances. People who use it regularly and who are into it know where to find it; it's not as popular to the general public nowadays as it was in the 60's/70's so the chances of some dude appraching you at a party and saying "want some dose?" is slim to none. If you want it bad enough you will find it eventually.

if you go to a Winco and try to buy italian truffles not gonna happen, similar thing with you're run of the mill herb dealer, lsd is a gourmet drug man, just gotta be a big enough acid head. I get asked all the time wether i know where I could get some lucy and I know where to pick up cheap fluffy vials... I jst dont feel like it.
