A friend of mine who sells some really good bud always stores his bud in the fridge in small glass containers.. and his bud is always amazin... the strain is good, but does putting your bud in the fridge keep it fresher or ruin it?
Keeping it in a cool dark place prevents in from deteriorating in quality (it will not make it any better then it was when it first went in the freezer.)
There no need to keep it cold, or even cool. Bud is fine as long as it's in the dark and not warmer than room temp. In mason jars, it'll keep for a couple of years like this. Freezing it isnt very good, unless your making hash. It makes the trichomes rock hard and they fall off very easily... good for hash but not so good for selling. Room temp/slightly cooler than room temp, sealed up in the dark is optimum.
Freezer shmeezer put it in a pipe and smoke it, I am almost certain that putting it in the fridge may keep the freshness longer but it won't make the bud any better if anything it will lose potency
if the buds aren't dried and cured properly, there will still be moisture in the buds. So putting them in the fridge/freezer wouldn't be a very good idea at all. LIP's post was dead on.
i've been storing my bud in a vacuum sealed mason jar in the fridge for years. i've got bud in there from nearly a year ago right now and it's as good as the day i got it. anyone who says that bud shouldn't be kept in the fridge...i beg to differ.
Oh, I love this thread. I always wonder too. I keep mine in the freezer in three layers of plastic baggies, and it gets dried out. How do you get a vacuum-sealed mason jar? I barely know what that is.
It's a waste of time. Keeping it in an airtight jar in the dark is good enough. It'll last for years, stay fresh and might even make the taste more smoother after time.
buy a mason jar from your local shop (walmart, k-mart, etc). then get one of these: http://pump-n-seal.com/. works beautifully with not only weed but also fruits and veggies if you're like me and have a tendency to let shit spoil.
he has it good in the freezer and in small containers thats how i sell in the freezer in like a plastic cookie jar thing keeps it from drying
Differ then, you fool. You can treat your bud how you like, but i prefer to do it properly. If you knew what you were talking about you'd know theres no benefits from keeping it cold, and only negatives from freezing it. Fucking amatures.
since you obviously know everything about everything, then please show me a properly (i.e. scientifically...not someone's "personal experience") conducted study that shows the dependence of marijuana potency over a given time period under varying temperatures. the problem with the marijuana community is the lack of knowledge derived from something other than someone's belief, feelings, or subjective experience. granted we can't be entirely to blame for this because the drug is illegal, which clearly prevents any amount of reasonable research about it. but seriously, people need to be a bit more humble about what kinds of shit they know and don't know because honestly if everything were just so obvious, wouldn't everyone know it? Lip, you don't know everything about weed. do i know more than you? not necessarily, but i'm capable of admitting it. bush thought he knew everything about the world too...and look where that got us. if world knowledge were based on the belief of those who think they knew everything, we'd be teaching intelligent design in science class. (oh wait...our country does do that).
Sorry, but i dont beleive i have said "i know it all" in ANY of my posts, here, or on the web at all. I claim to know alot, because i do. I know full well that theres more to be learnt, you never stop learning. Infact, i'll probably learn something new about weed today... So dont put words in my mouth. I cant fucking stand it. "Solutions of pure cannabinoids, nine samples of herbal and two of resin cannabis (one freshly prepared) were stored in varying conditions for up to 2 years. Exposure to light (not direct sunlight) was shown to be the greatest single factos in loss of cannabinoids especially in solutions, which should therefore be protected from light during analytical and phytochemical operations. Previous claims that solutions in ethanol were stable have not been substantiated. The effect of temperature, up to 20 degrees, was insignificant but air oxidation did lead to significant losses. These could be reduced if care was taken to minimize damage to the glands which act as "well filled, well closed containers". Loss of tetrahydrocannabinol after exposure to light does not lead to an increase in cannabinol, but air oxidation in the dark does. It is concluded that carefully prepared herbal or resin cannabis or extracts are reasonably stable for 1 to 2 years if stored in the dark at room temperature." J Pharm Pharmacol. 1976 Jan;28(1):1-7. The stability of cannabis and its preparations on storage. Fairbairn JW, Liebmann JA, Rowan MG. There you go. Happy?!
When you say "Fucking Amateurs"...that says a lot. I didn't put words in your mouth, you did that for yourself. Thank you. Although from 1976, that's a good start. I appreciate you looking that up. Having said that, my original post says to put it in a vacuum sealed jar, which is what they say is best. So you are likely correct about the temperature thing, but the vacuum sealing is certainly helpful.
Well, when you say something along the lines of or as good as "anyone who doesnt freeze their bud is stupid" you have to expect to be proven wrong, and be called wrong. Calling you a fucking amature is nothing like me saying "i know it all" And mason jars are standard. Cant grow without one. Well, cant cure properly, or as well without one.
