    Hey Jonny

Theres some pics of my small plot in the gardening forum, I was trying to start off a pics thread but it never really took off...

This year along with my usuall Im going to try and grow lots of salad leafs, do you have any suggestions? Its just too expensive to keep buying bags of salad from asda, they dont last, and I dont eat enough to warrant buying whole vegetables and cutting them up myself. Those 'cut and come again' might be the answer. I dont know what to buy.

I had my first batch of decent compost this year too! Quite a lot of it too :) If I ever move into the city as I plan to soon Ill apply for an allotment - It will be a whole lot more sociable than my current plot too which will be an added bonus too.

verseau_miracle potatoes should be able to work they dont need very strong sun , and should grow anywhere you can grow beans and onions , you could grow them in bin bags or old tyres or a old drum if you cant grow them directly in the earth .
in england you would start first earlys about now , but the main potatoe planting period is around easter you put them to chit first thats leave them say on a window sill in sun for the potatoe sprouts to grow, then you plant them with these sprouts standing up.

you can look out for smallish potatoes with sprouts in the potatoes you eat, and put them by to see if potatoes work where you are, new potatoes might be best .
normally I would say get seed potatoes but as your only thinking of a trial with a small amout that should be ok .

ripple Im not a great one for salad maybe endive or some chinese salad http://www.realseeds.co.uk/salads.html http://www.realseeds.co.uk/sweetgreens.html

The advantage of that company is they only sell non hybrids so you could save seed from your salad plants saving you money over the years , also they dont sell gmo seed .

rah you seem a bit daft but "sigh" what can anyone do about it apart from you

I think this is a great idea Jonny. Let me know how you go on as I'd thought of doing quinoa myself x
