America should just shut up and have faith in their elected leader?

I do believe it is wrong to only mock the guys intelligence, resemblance, or make any other cheap shots, that is just stupid. But there are plenty of people, including myself, that only mock the specifics, like his policies and his agenda, and potential motives of his inner circle. It is our responsibility in a democracy to question our government. The less say and control the people have, the more they are fooled by propaganda and are inflicted with guilt, and make decisions out of fear and ignorance, the further from a real democracy we get.

So, are we straying from a democracy, of course. Do we only consider another country a democracy when it's under our terms, yes. Are we starting to resemble and imperialist nation, it's a valid argument.

So now more than ever we have the responsibilty to question our government. When we accept everything they feed us, we let them manipulate the world with their power.

I believe we still have a chance to take the country back and to set a better course back towards true democracy.

It seems that America is moving towards becoming a plutocracy, rather than a democracy.

Plutocracy:

1. Government by the wealthy.

Democracy:

1. Government by the people, exercised either directly or through elected representatives.
2. A political or social unit that has such a government.
3. The common people, considered as the primary source of political power.

I don't think many have noticed but thats the way it's been for quite some time

 

So, what we're supposed to do is sit back, relax, and hit cruise control while the Washington fuckers do whatever the hell they want?

It is true that this country isn't a true democracy, but I don't exactly know what it is. Our country is filled with people on two sides, and most of them don't really know anything about politics, they just know their side, and the cast of characters that they can root for. Then sometimes people will vote for someone because of just one reason, not looking at all the others why maybe they shouldn't. Has to do with the divide in this country, a political divide that is turning into a culture divide. Republicans are trying to now be the "christian" party primarily, because of a few issues. That is how they are getting most of their votes, doesn't matter how many people that they are responible for killing overseas, because they are against abortion. Almost as if you can't question their moral integrity. The Democratic party used to be known more as the christian party because of civil rights issues, welfare, etc. Now the corporations are using the christian demographic to their advantage.

Most people think they have control, while really, we are being controlled through the media and peer pressure. I mean, the only reason we know anything about politics is through other sources. I've never been to Iraq, don't really know if it really exists, but somehow I have an opinion.

Chances are if you are reading this you said yes to a new government and said no to war. Well then, you won't get your new government. I am all for restructering our government and putting the power back in the peoples hands. I imagine that life was a little better after America won it's freedom. However, because we are human there will always be that one or few people that are wolfs in sheeps clothing. Smiling and taking pictures with babies on the outside, but inside thinking what can I do for me me me. You can protest all you want. Get a 10 mil man march going, none of it will change anything. You want a new government? An overhaul so to speak? You are gonna have to fight for it just like the first Americans did. The other problem you will run into are the people that are comfortable just the way things are. Sure they may complain about property taxes or inflation of prices right when they get a raise, but they are not willing to lay their life on the line so that our children and our childrens children can have a better future. So, lets just say that half of America wont care about a new gov. That means the other half will be fighting against American Solders. Remeber, they have all the technology you don't have. Hrmmm, what does this sound like? Oh yes, The Civil War. Our government will not change because 10 million people carrying a sign want it changed. Question is, are you really willing to lay your life down and your neighbors life, and your childrens life, and your families life, and your.......
