It's so good! I like it better than any of the others so far, and there've only been three episodes. They're just so good! Hail Chaiken! What do you guys think?
*spoilers* sorry, but im going to have to disagree with you. I'm not really liking it this season! I'm really not liking the whole shane bit, as they're making her appear more like a pig. I felt like they cut her love interest out of the picture way too soon. Why was she having sex in the place she and her lover were going to buy? I thought that was really stupid. And the whole wedding fiasco was laughable. She fucked the two daughters and the mother all in one night? come on! And Jenny is so fucking annoying and rude to everybody lately, not really sure where they're going with her story. The only thing I do like on the L Word is the Tasha/Alice story and Tasha's battle with the don't ask don't tell policy. Although I felt Alice taking those pictures of those two gay guys at that party was WAAYY out of character for her. It was selfish, and she's risking ruining Tasha's future because of it. Does that sound like Alice? I dunno...I keep watching because im hoping it'll get better, and I liked all previous seasons. But this one's falling short!
Hah, you know, I agree with a lot of what you said--Shane is a caricature this season. I think the wedding scene was meant to exaggerate that, which I thought was the brilliance of it. I don't like Jenny either--she's not really Jenny at all anymore. But I'm still loving the season. I love how it's made, and all the fantasy/dream/film/imaginary sequences. And the end of the last episode (504) was tremendous.
I'm loving it so far as well, but Shane's character is kinda annoying, she just went WAY too far with fucking off Paige like that. The scene with her and the two bar owners WAS tremendous, as was Bette and Tina...I was like :O :O :O because I love Jodi so so so much! All in all, it's keeping me hooked so I guess that's a good thing. Let's see how it all pans out Ps: They are all looking SO good this season...like extra good! (Except Jenny who's snooty attitude makes me want to kick her in the face.)
*Possible Spoilers* I really enjoy The L Word, although I have to say that the majority of the characters are starting to really irritate me. Jenny, always has. Tina, always has. But what the heck is going on with Alice?! I mean, taking pictures, vlogging about things when she shouldn't have? I'm all for speaking your mind, but that was too, too much. And Bette, kissing Tina? And now it seems like she's all wanting to get back together with Tina. Although it does seem like Tina wants none of that... I really miss Helena, too! I hope she's coming back. And this whole Lez Girls thing, it's all just playing into Jenny's hands. I really wish that raft had punctured itself on something and sank, taking Jenny along with it. I also really liked Jodie in Season 4, but this season she's just acting a bit strange. What's up with that?!
Are you kidding? Tina's THOROUGHLY in love with Bette, but she doesn't want to be the cause for Jodie for the suffering that she endured when Bette was with the carpenter...if that sentence makes sense...
Are you kidding? Tina's THOROUGHLY in love with Bette, but she doesn't want to be the cause for Jodie for the suffering that she endured when Bette was with the carpenter...if that sentence makes sense... For example, the getting "really drunk" at the end of 505? It was right after she told Bette it couldn't keep happening. I'd like to think it dawned on Bette when Jodie told her what had happened, because Tina doesn't seem like the type of character to go out and get trashed.
so am I. Too bad the show is going further down the drain with Jenny and her stupid movie. I abhor her entire story and believe they are spending way too much time on it and not enough time on the development of the other characters.
I have come to the conclusion that all of them are batshit insane. Jenny? Obviously. I'm not even going to go there. My L friends and I have a hate session about her every week. Bette: always ruining her life when it's just getting under control. Shane: one-dimensional. Where would she be without her girl obsession? Alice: transphobic and totally out of line. Tina: needs to move on. Kit: totally badass, single best person on the show. Overall, it has become a ridiculous caricature of the worst of human nature. I watch it for the pretty girls and it is the only representation of lesbians we have on television, for better or worse.
Yeah, I have to admit that I got that impression as well. The whole time I was sitting there thinking "how is this contributing to character and plot development?" Because I'm a geek.
I was thinking the exact same thing during the oil wrestling scene! It just seemed to be catering to straight man's faux-lesbianism fantasy. I mean, it was hot and kinda looked like fun, but took up WAY too much time in the episode and just...didn't really seem to fit the vibe of the show. It's so over-sensational this season, with characters being fucked off at the drop of a hat and disappearing just like that, one-dimentional Shane (even though I still love her)... the things I am loving as the season progresses is the Alice/Tasha issue (I was so when they had that fight at Shane/Jenny's house!), Tina/Bette (but I feel bad for Jodi) and Jenny is growing on me once again. I laugh at her stupid comments (such as "I won't continue this conversation until you wipe the booger from your nose.")...I miss Kit's wild days (not the alcoholic days, but the days where she had her beautiful wild hair and performed on stage and spent time with that hot transdude)...sigh. I am still addicted though Can you notice? Hey Bocks, talk about discussing the characters lives with immense attachment, as though we knew them personally, eh? hahaahahahahaaha
