Has anyone watched this film? it was pretty good. It's about a shy young man who brings his girlfriend to his brother's house for his brother and sis in law to meet---only the girl is a sex doll. He's under a certain delusion...and the movie's about how the people around him react to it..
Yes it is very good, strange and funny at the same time. You know Ryan Gosling just keeps getting better as an actor. He's branching out, hardly ever does a big Hollywood movie and seems quite dedicated to being a quality actor. While I wouldn't give this film a perfect score it was worth seeing.
Soon after watching this film I stumbled across a Google Video documenting the lives of several men who genuinely live their lives in the way described by the movie. They kiss their real dolls goodnight and take them out for walks, give them names, all the shit that happened in the movie. Saying that, it was a good movie, interesting to say the least.
I was extremely unimpressed. Which sucks cause it had the potential to be really creepy and very funny but it was neither. Just another cookie cutter hollywood reel for the trash heap.
i caught that video before watching Lars and the Real Girl. I was really, intensely disturbed by the BBC video. So I was pleasantly surprised when Lars and the Real Girl wasn't as desperate or creepy. I quite liked the film... and I have to agree that Ryan gosling is definately making his waves. I can't wait to see where he goes with his career.
