Just saw the gorilla ad with Phil Collin's song and it reminded me of the film Buster, which then reminded me of the new heist film coming up. I really like heist films, and so I've been following the production for this one, The Bank Job. Basically, it's based on a true story, 1971 robbery in London, in relation to which no one was ever arrested. I really liked the early stillshots' feeling of the 70's, and from the clips (here's one)it's noticeable that they've managed to maintain it. Saffron Burrows looks really hot.. not on that clip thou For me that's definietely one to look forward to.
I recently saw Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels, Statham starred in that film too. I really enjoy his acting, think he's sorted with that kind of roles
Just saw the trailer for this. Looks fun if a little formulaic - another one of these "geezer" movies in a long line stretching back to the Italian Job. I'll probably check it out. EDIT: Just noticed it's scripted by Clement and LaFrenais, always a guarantee of quality.
just saw it, it was pretty good. Does what it says on the tin, as people seem to say nowadays - heist-gone-wrong, dodgy geezers, corruption, scandal, skulduggery, exotic locations... One thing that jarred was when one of the spooks said "can I get a Campari" in the pub - I'm sure nobody was using this Americanism in England in the 1970s, I'm not even sure they were saying it in America back then.
yea i remember seeing a modern helicopter in American Gangster... =) didn't have the chance to see the Bank Job yet though. Will do soon.. What you said hooked me up
