I do! I grew up seeing my first show in 86 and hundreds after. I was in Brents generation and the feeling i get when i close my eyes and hear a show i have been to is overwhelming. I was lucky enough to get to see Jerry 100's of times as well as physically meet him in Hawaii. I felt like i was touched my gold, yet he used to shit like the rest of us so a pedestal, he would not be happy on. any hard days, hard times, sad moments and its JERRY THERAPY!!
Well, peope have different tastes in music. Disliking a bands music or popularity is not a reason to hate them though. Although bands that purely aim for popularity are easy to hate I guess, but yeah, that's not the case with the Grateful Dead.
Here's a few Jimi Hendrix Bob Dylan Battles John Zorn Charlie Parker Tea Leaf Green Curtis Mayfield Tom Waits Patti Smith John Coltrane Miles Davis Geroge Clinton and the Parliment Funkadelic John McLaughlin Television Sonic Youth Umphrees McGee Younder Montain String Band Nickle Creek Iggy Pop Cecil Taylor Frank Zappa The Velvet Underground Of course there are many more, but theres just some off the top of my head
its like that quote attributed to jerry...something like "the grateful dead are like licorice...not everybody likes licorice, but those who like it REALLY like it"
