I sent this letter to Senator Clair Mcaskle of Missouri. Let me know what you think Dear Senator, My name is Paul *****, I am 14 years old, and I am in 8th grade. I live in Kansas City Missouri. I used to have very bad ADHD, so I was unable to focus during school. This greatly affected my overall GPA. Also, as a result of the ADHD, I was unable to fall asleep at night, due to the hyper behavior and racing thoughts associated with the disorder. I was prescribed synthetic medications for both the ADHD and insomnia, and disliked both. The ADHD pills just made me very very tired, so I was still unable to focus in school. By the time they wore off, I would have to sleep. The insomnia pills worked, but as a side effect gave me very very bad headaches, so I usually ended up throwing them away each night without telling my parents. When I heard about marijuana's ability to ease both of these problems, I was intrigued. I asked my Dr. about it at my annual physical exam, and apparently he agreed with what I had heard, but was unable to officially prescribe marijuana due to federal law. Fortunately my parents were somehow able to find a source, so I am able to receive it. My method of consumption is digestive. Every morning, a little bit is sprinkled on my toast or pop tart before school. It does not make me high because of the low dosage, and instead makes me more alert and focused. I am able to sit still in class, control what I say, follow along with what the teacher says, and overall enjoy life more. It also allows me to fall asleep at night, due to the soothing nature of the substance. Since I started using it, my GPA has shot up greatly! I now have a 4.0 average, something I never knew I could do. I am bothered by the fact that my medicine is illegal, and I always worry that someday police will raid our house and arrest my parents, just because I was using a plant to help me focus and fall asleep. If medical marijuana ever goes on the ballet in Missouri, I hope you will take this letter into consideration. Thank you very much for reading.
I really like your letter and enjoy hearing a true success story. The only thing I would say to change next time is around is instead of saying "if medical marijuana ever goes on the ballot" say "I'd like you to consider voting in favor of medical marijuana laws" or "I'd like you to consider proposing a bill..." etc etc. Be active in your activism, tell him what you want, don't accept passive action. It's a really great letter though and I hope you get some sort of response!! peace, John
I like it but I'd never send something like that.. who knows what the man will do.. trace it and arrest your parents and make a huge story out of it
Thank you for the response! I did not get a reply unfortunatly... but I'm still glad I sent it anyway. it may have done some good
Yea i was a bit paranoid at first, but in the real letter I didn't include my last name, I just said my name was paul and I was 14. so it's all good =D
if more kids hand wrote letters like that it might actually be possible to get it medicinal in every state
I'm not sure how the weed would have any effect on you at all, if you sprinkle it on your food. It needs to be heated up for a bit, so the food can absorb the THC... unless you do that..
i have quite bad insomnia, if i put a bit of weed in my breakfast every morning would it work just the same as smoking it before bed..... ?
excellent letter, very well written. your parents should be congratulated for not being subject to ignorance. :spliff:
we do, at first we didnt realize you had to cook the THC out and it didnt work, but then we researched it
