In case some folks don't know, The Dead are playing tonight! That's right, Bobby, Phil, and Mickey are getting back together one night only to support Barrack Obama's presidential election. They'll be playing with Phil's friends Jackie Green, John Molo, and Steve Molitz of Particle. If you want to watch 'em live, check out www.iclips.net around 7:30 PM PST. I cant wait!
Yeah, not sure what's up with Kreutzman, but I'll take what I can get. I'm just excited to see Phil and Bobby jamming together. Plus, with Molo, it will be the next closest thing to the rhythm devils...
hey thanks i knew there was a concert and i knew there was a broadcast but i really didnt know where so thanks alot man. i cant wait i wish i could go but that would be basically imposible considering that i live in illinois and the concert is at 7:30 and it would take like a day to get there,i also told my parents that i wanted to go,cause i really dont know if the Dead will play again.so thanks this a way for me to watch the Grateful Dead.
Why does the media think they can FOOL us DEADHEADS? Shame on you Bob Weir your soppose to be the next leader in line. And to let them call you the GRATEFUL DEAD without Bill Kreutzman. So Obama can get the some stupid hippy coverage out in campain. Hey nobody would of fucking noticed if it was THE OTHER ONES. Which it clearly wasnt even that since Bill would of likely joined under the name. I cant vouch for Kruttzman I havent really heard why he wsn'y there yet. But this to me just seems like bullshit And maybe the The OTHER ONES/ Cause who the fuck are they now RATDOG? ........WTF........ will appologize to their real fans. But honestly To use the name GD w/o Garcia is just discraceful and I thought the Band I have really loved all my life are as phoney as Britney Spears. Thanks Bob Weir your a lost sailor now and your really taking us on a trip and no idea where your taking us. Im not flipping out cause of politics!!! IM flipping Cause The GRATEFUL DEAD name dont belong to you........ It belongs to all of us who have truely DEADICATED our lives to the name Grateful Dead and shouldnt be abused.
It was a good show though, i was slightly upset with the fact of jackie singing sugaree and deal, but still the boys did a cover of come together that was 100000000000000000 times better then the beatles, they threw down a grate show, but i agree with most of u, there no longer the grateful dead, there the dead jerrys no longer alround, but something to point out, why after pigpen died they still went by the grateful dead, i think thats when they should of just went with the dead, just a point, iam not trying to start anything or piss anyone off, i love jerry just as much as everyone else here does, but come on give some respect to pigpen
Pigpen is not like the departure of Jerry Garcia. plain and simple. Pigpen was great, but come on, he is no Jerry. Garcia and Hunter wrote the bulk of the material, so when Jerry died and they returned, it would not have been proper to come back as the Grateful Dead.....now who introduced them at the show?? some people are just stupid. Phish was once announced as "the Phish" at benefit show in Mt. View, CA....so they could have billed themselves as "the Dead" but some no so smart person messed up the intro. if it was billed as ''the Grateful Dead" then that is just lame. But i don't even think it should have been billed as ''the Dead', Kreutzman is the Grateful Dead drummer, he was always there. from the start, never left. he is the dead drummer. mickey is great, but he has come and gone...etc. i don't doubt this show was awesome....i love all these guys...these are just a few particulars i think need to be discussed. what was the setlist???
but i am stoked that Phil and Bobby played together again...now lets get a real Dead tour together (wave that flag anybody??? that tour was epic!!!) and see some more phil and bobby together before its too late. lets not kid ourselves, we are all mere mortals.
Agreed, I wish Phil and Bobby could get over it and jam together all the time, like you said, before it is too late...
I couldn't listen to this show live... I listening now to the recording on archive. I've listened up to Minglewood Blues, so far it's decent. I expect it will get better, thougth the recording isn't the best...
