Right well i was requested to ask anyone on here if they could help with this problem: My Bro whenever he trys to open media player on his computer it wont open. It appears in the process list for a few seconds then it just disappears... It used to work bt it doesnt anymore... Any help or advice muchly appreciated...
The first thing I would do is nothing. I hate Windows Media Player. I would try to download the latest edition from Microsoft and reinstall it. Here's a couple of other players that I do like, both free: http://www.gomplayer.com/main.html http://kmplayer.kde.org/ x
He says he NEEDS media player cos certain programmes on the PC wont work without it... Hes got about 3 programmes for it but to no avail.... Oh yeah and he has the latest from microsoft... But thanks
What type of video file type is it that he's trying to open? See if there are any codecs up for download. Try reinstalling it if that doesn't work. But try VLC Media Player. It plays everything, is free, and isn't heavy to run. Heck, it even plays corrupted or damaged media files nothing else will play.
VLC is a decent player. Ummm BTW. What version of windows is this running on? Vista is a whole new ballgame! Try a 'Rollback' to the previous version on XP Home.
Roll back doesnt work, Windows media player wont open at all, the problem came before the new firewall, He already has VLC but he needs windows media player cos its used by some applications... And its on XP.. Thanks for your help though...
windows media player sucks!!! I advise you to at least try VLC its free and will play ANYTHING!! no codecs and plugins are needed. no troubles, no hassles!!! just go to google and type VLC and it is the first one (the icon is an orange cone). trust me. you will like it.
