This is my second time posting and I think today has become a perfect storm of shit that fell into place. For one, technology has made life too convenient. Two, the media and mega conglomerates have spoon fed us daily dose mix of pills, mindless infotainment/entertainment and worst has found a formula to exploit individualism as something to sell, which in turn makes it lose credibility. Three, a younger generation who's needy, selfish, and basically spoiled from promises of a life that should've had flying cars and grandiose dreams. Four, government policies have shifted the money to the elite while (not even secretly) expanding government and creating a false sense of quality of life for the rest of us. A good example is the housing bubble.

It's nice to have information at the tips of our fingers but is it necessary? Personally I could do without Ipods, email, ect. but most people now can't. It's a mentally addicting drug. I'm not saying to go back to the stone age, no matter how appealing, but as stated before we need to take more personal responsibility for our surroundings and ourselves. From fixing global warming to woopin your kids ass from time to time.

Capitalism will always be capitalism there's no way around that but what surprises me is that no one realizes this, the market thrives on ideas no matter what, if that idea happens to be saying I need a bigger dick then it's gonna respond by saying try Viagra for so much money.( idk how much it is cuz I don't buy it but anyway). Another great example of capitalism exploiting individualism is the T.V show 'Made' on Mtv. Which shows how a teen, maybe like you the viewer, can be made into another more "cool" you. Not only does that demean the viewers intelligence, confidence, and self-worth but at the same time generate revenue for Mtv. It's basic psychology, if your parents know about it, it's uncool and if Mtv knows about how unique you are( or want to be) then thats when it loses it's meaning and becomes really uncool. 1 word describes this best "nigga". I leave that one to you.

Next is the mindset of a Gen Yer, Millennial, whatever you wanna call us. this is a generation that grew up with a sense of entitlement that was brought on by the 80's over indulgence and a sense of missed opportunity of the past century, similar to the 70's jones generation toward the 60's. I once heard Ray Manzarek from the doors saying something about the atmosphere in the 60's as " this sense of we reached the end of the world without starting over, across the water was Asia, Vietnam and other cultures yet learned" I wish I could remember more of that radio interview but can't. The main point here is that we have the spirit of the 60's, the economic problems of the 70's and the cynicism of the 90's Gen Xers.

Which brings me to the next problem the collaboration and unofficial merger of the democratic and republican ideals. I think a great quote would be " It's bad when parties don't agree but it's worst when they do.". Think about that for a sec. really, this administration has more influence in executive spending and power not since F.D.R . Yet the core of the republicans is smaller gov. not bigger. I just read today that inflation is at around 6.5%, which it hasn't been in almost 30 years. What does that mean? It means were pumping out new money like it's fucking PEZ which then shrinks the value of the currency and projects a false state of economic growth. Where does the change from all this go? Open up the newspaper of the business section for the fortune 500 companies, find out who's running them and there you have it. The Biggest problem about this is Americans are spending more than they can afford which eventually catches up and when that happens the economy will collapse under it's own debt.

Standing up for something that you believe in takes a personal sacrifice, and the majority of people dont want to sacrifice anything.Either you sacrifice it now,or you sacrifice it later.Only later there is more at stake, and more you will end up sacrificing, maybe even losing your existance.
It seems americans have become phony, spineless, greedy drones.
    IMHO
    Peace BULL
    10 million people with $10.00 each = $100 million to start a bank,and profit.
Not much sacrifice, but alot to gain. Its really simple. But nobody wants to sacrifice.

    Its so fustrating to me..
Everyone just walks around so relaxed.
Don't get me wrong everyone has the right to be comfortable.
But completly disregard everything around us like we are all that exist?
To me thats way to comfortable.
    We are all to comfortable.
The government has minipulated its way into our private lives and we are more than happy to let them.
Its so much easier to let someone else take care of the tuff situations.
That way its their fault when it blows up in everyone face.

Those who want to fix dont have the credentials, or the balls to do it.
Those that do? They dont care, Thier rich and livin fat!
And!!! Everyone is happy with saying "yeah they can take care of that".
" Im just to busy", or "dont we pay people taxes for that".
After all we all pay taxes that should be enough.Right?

How you going to knock someone who believes strongly in there believes.
Whats betterto believe in something knowing someone may not understand, or to not believe anything at all?
There are people fighting its that those that are, they are fighting but they fight alone.
Your not going to here about whos fighting for the people.
They call us a bunch of druged up hyppies.

    Think globally, act locally.

It's what you do that counts. 'Ever gone up to a bum in Central Park and given him a 20? I have, it feels good. 'Ever carry a sign, or expressed your disdain publicly, knowing that it could mark your professional suicide? I do it all the time.

My point is, you can get down on "them" (when you're part of them) what are YOU doing about it?

You don't necessarily need to carry a sign in the streets or anything like that, though it feels good when you do, try it. Just live your life like you should, and spread the word, we're all listening...

What the fact that I've grown tired of the multitude of threads with the same subject?

How you going to knock someone who believes strongly in there believes.

    Didn't "knock" anything.

Whats betterto believe in something knowing someone may not understand, or to not believe anything at all?

I am not sure what your talking about please clarify in the future.

There are people fighting its that those that are, they are fighting but they fight alone.

Last time I checked cindy sheehan and Joan Blades and george soros and Alex Jones were not fighting alone they have a small "progressive" army with them.

Your not going to here about whos fighting for the people.

You use "people" as a very generalized term, You mean to say left-wing people. I am certainly not left-wing so I doubt I want the same people fighting for me as you do.

They call us a bunch of druged up hyppies.

Thats probaly because of lot of these people are drugged up.

    What do you sudjest doing?

Going down the street and feed a homless person or talk to a widower at a nursing home. Revolution should come after the people are fed, or else you will never represent those people.

Some people are afraid of being labeled. If they are labeled as a Protester, a Whatever they might not get a job or their child will get teased in school because of parents who talk about other parents in front of kids.

I, myself, could care less. In 2004 we were about 1.5M strong protesting for Choice in DC. I did not feel alone. We live in a very Conservative area in the Southern part of the U.S. and believe me when I say people judge. What I have taught my adopted daughter is to speak up and stand up for what you believe in but not to judge others who disagree or don't speak up. Sometimes silence can be as powerful, not always.

I ran for the State Senate not long ago against a very Conservative, 2 term, millionaire guy. He spent $600K and I spent what I raised, around $10K. I received 1/3 of the vote. Real proud of that. 1/3 of the people voted for an old hippie. People just need to be reminded that their voice is heard.

I cannot judge those who are silent for they may be making a mark in our world and we just don't know about it.

    Right on.

Best to believe in something, regardless if anyone understands. Best to be an independent thinker, that's what we need more of.

The problem is we're conditioned to believe that one person can't make a difference, that's bullshit.

The one time I DON'T use drugs is when I protest publicly. If I'm impaired that just gives the powers that be more leverage to suppress me and people like me, plus I don't want people that see me to mistake my roll model. I stand for FREEDOM, not drugs, there's a difference.

It's only bullshit if one does not vote. Every vote matters to every single person and thing on this planet. We should be asking the question...Why don't people vote? And, don't even go into the...we don't have anyone running crap...vote for/against bonds for schools, vote for/against town council, etc. It's the VOTE that can make the change!

    One day.
    One Person at a time.....
Everything we come from no matter where that may be.
It started with just one person who believes..

    Everyone does something....

It is sad when people don't vote b/c they don't think their vote matters- if half the country believes this, how would voting hurt? If enough people come out, perhaps this mass of votes would help turn the tide. What is the worst that would happen? You wasted some time by voting when it didn't count? What better things did you have to do anyways? Did you miss part of a tv show? Damn, that's the breaks- when people find superficial excuses not to vote when there is a chance that your vote will matter. What is worse, to love and lose or never to love at all? Or rather, to vote w/ the chance of making a difference or never trying at all?

    Peace and love

I feel the internet is the magic bullet that will set us free.
Never before in History has it been this easy to reach so many people.

I make the occasional video on youtube about things i see and disagree with, ive reached a lot people in the last few months. it feels a lot more encouraging than standing there with a protest sign. I would love to see the net being used more to organise mass demonstrations. the politicians cant ignore us if we all turn up at their doorstep.

    Fight with information.

Once we understand that being rebellious doesnt mean being social disasters..
Protest with our minds, there is no excuse for not standing up, and its to easy to get lost in the chuffle.... what I mean by that is we are often discredited for our lack of social obidience and knowledge..
Being right doesnt mean we will be known for it..
We must prove we are right..
Prove that we know what is going on..
This is going to take alot more than one protest.
We need a movement like we havent had in decades..
Only we have to do it better..
    We have to be smarter..
Make our presents know..Not just online..We can say what you want here but do the people you know have a clue what you stand for who you are?
Do we know as much about them?

The worst thing that just pisses me THE F@#&% OFF is when people tell me they cant speak there minds and stand up for what they believe and know to be right, Because SOMEONE MIGHT MAKE FUN OF THEM!!!!!!!
    What the hell is that..
People not to long ago were being linched for existing!!!
Laughed at for the color of their skin..Something we have know controll over..
What if they had continued to think it was better to not take the chance for fear of it becoming worse?
Rather than take the chance on being free?
If know one stood up in the hippy movement we may still be in vietnam..

Our only reason for failure could be a lack of knowledge...
Lack of preperation and lack of follow threw..
Go to a library investigate on line get our knowledge of the facts together..
Listen to anyone willing to tell us there story..
    Know what we are facing..

Fear Thow!! Fear should never be a reason to fail...

I agree with u shatarag in that fear is not a reason to fail. People are afraid of standing up because they are very comfortable with the life they have, because they worry about less important issues like material things( cellphones, cars...), because they are so used to the injustices, because they have been sold the idea of a globalized world where all that matters is money and where noone cares about the other. Because people watch the news and they are no longer surprised of all the bad and unfair things that are happening on the world. Because some people are just tired of believing in others who promised to make their life better, so they have just given up. Because we are manipulated by the powerfull, because it is not easy to be brave...
Luckely there are still people who believe things can change and do something about it ! I do ! There are a lot of things to stand up for... I think we need to get together and stand up like once the hippies did.

Our culture is self absorbed by design. As long as they keep us distracted, the power is theirs, and the only thing that forces people to break out of their distraction and question things is crisis. Yet now we're seeing crisis all around us; the war in Iraq, natural disasters like Katrina, the decline of the middle class, and now the economy. On some levels it's a good thing, because people are being forced to open their eyes. Maybe the folks in power will realize it's in everyone's best interest for them to do the right thing for a change.
