So I got a lecture my first day as a new parent. While I was filling out the paternity paperwork, I checked "No" for automatic social security registration. The women came back with the confirmation papers and mentioned that we would have the social security information within a matter of weeks. I told her that I did not approve that. The baby's mother had originally selected yes. We scratched it out, completely, and proceeded to select 'No'. This woman tries to tell me that she didn't notice that it was checked No. Then proceeds to lecture me about how I can't just have a baby and not get it a social security number and that it makes sense to save the time and let them do it. When I told the woman I have no intention of doing it at all, I got another lecture from her, and all grandparents. Is it really that deep to people whether or not I choose to give my son an assigned tracking number?
I know, but it seems like everybody and their mom wants to tell me that I can't do that. I'm pretty sure that I can and I did.
is that like a social insurance number? isn't it important to have that when getting a job? yeah, well you should have been like up in her grill going all "bitch, please" and then she'd leave you alone what did you guys choose as a name?
ahahahahahaha i love you jess but that doesnt always work. i can be relentlessly bitchy and i still lose sometimes. although not very often. like last night i hella got into it with this old indian bitch that rented me a room and wouldnt give us our money back when we found blood on the sheets and trash on the floor and porn under the bed. and truuuust me i was all up in that bitchs grill people nowadays....
We chose Victour Lynn Nila. It probably is pretty equivalent to having a social insurance number. It is needed for getting into school, insurance, jobs, benefits, grants for school etc.
then why wouldn't you get your kid that number, do you plan on home schooling him? oh god how i fear for your kid
You should not fear for my child. You should simply fear my child. Most likely he will be homeschooled, and before you go talking shit, keep in mind that on my college entrance exams I scored well above average and have an IQ of roughly 130. I am more than capable of home schooling my child up to and including highschool and advanced materials. I have insurance for him already through my job. No worries there. While I can't take him in for standard appointments and check-ups, it is a known fact that an Emergency Room at a hospital cannot turn you away. At all. Furthermore, I have checked with several doctors offices that say they cannot bill for patients without a social security number, however since I am the billable party, I can be billed for his hospital visit regardless of whether or not he has a social.
Does anyone know what the social security number is REALLY all about? You guys should look into it. We are OWNED (yes owned) by the government (rather its private owners -- ie. the banks) through our SS number and birth certificate.
Woot woot! Good call on my part. Who's the man? *does a silly dance* Thank you Matt for elaborating on my concerns with this matter. I've been disturbed more often than not by every piece of news that's released concerning our goverment, their foreign policies, and the direction in which our country is being led. For these reasons, and others, I will not be furnishing my son with a SSN. If he would choose, at a proper age, that he would like to have one, that is up to him. NOBODY on this fucking earth though is going to make that choice for him. Including myself.
Right on Adam. At least you know your kid won't be a tool to the system. We're all nothing but numbers these days.
*shrugs* i applie dfor my social insurance number when i was 15, cuz i was gonna get a job at 16 (and did). but maybe the canadian isnt as crazy and the US...
the US sucks sometimes. You really have to have a SSN if you want to conform to the code, ie., get a job, health insurance, pay taxes, pretty much anything.
