    Pretty bottle.

I would put you money where it can work for you like fitzy21 said.

It is harder to spend money that is invested.

If it works for you, cool. Good luck!:)

Penny stocks are a great option. It only takes one to turn a few dollars into a few thousand.

their are certain types of savings accounts, which aren't as liquid as a checking account - you keep putting money in and with the interest payments will allow you to make a bit more money. its much better than keeping your money under a mattress (or in this case, a glass bottle), where you lose value over time

edit - for full disclosure: these types of accounts also have certain restrictions on withdrawals and such

Or $ down the toobs :)

Duno... I see no value in paper money... not what I want in life...

Perhaps I'll try the penny stock game when I get some bills paid off, never considered it... sounds like fun :)

It depends on what your objective for saving money is. Is it long term or short term?

When I used to work for a company I would have my bank automatically deduct a certain percentage of what I made into a separate bank account.

    The money builds quickly.

Now that I work for myself 10% of everything I make goes into an account that is just for investing.

    Quick easy investment?

Go to yard sales with a cell phone with internet access. Look for non fiction books that people are selling at the yard sale for .50 or less.

Get Amazon dot com on your sell phone. If the lowest price for the book is $10 or more, buy the book and list it on Amazon.

Easy money. There are hundreds of ways to make money. That is just one example.

Value is assigned, not assumed :)

I need it, I work for it... doesn't mean I have to be a slave to it... although I am now :)

Perhaps I should say I have no desire for the "finer" things in life... working 100 hours to buy a TV sounds absurd, but someone did it today :)

of course we assign value, otherwise there would be no reason to back it. people assigned value to seashells, rocks, metals, etc. people used to assign values to rock pillars - it wasn't moved, it was marked on the side who the owner was.

its legal tender to buy and sell goods with

    But I liiiiiiike my TV!

Unknown American: that's a great idea! (I mean, they're all good but I particularly love the "percentage of check into savings" idea. I'm gonna suggest that to my guy.

I respect and even sometimes envy those of you who don't care about money. I like it for me though. I really love traveling, and the more money we have, the more places we can go see. I know, I'm totally just another capitalist slave.

We live within a system, so we must work within it... that means dealing with $... the nobility of any goal is a direct measure of the how and why :)

Slave is a mentality that may or may not be based on reality... you are only a slave once you have given up control of your mind, a battle easily won in a moment :)

Lots of karma surrounding $... I wouldn't say its the root of all evil, I'd say its more of a shortcut to the dark side :)

I think more people should learn about the stock market because there are ways to make money without too much effort. (That is, you do have to know HOW the market works, but once you do your homework, investing isn't so hard.) If I had anything right now, I would do it too. I MIGHT just give the penny stocks a try, I hadn't considered that before. It's worth a shot.

Might as well, feel free to PM me with any insight ;)

If I get into investing I know the OCD in me will kick in and I'll spend a few months working towards wall street.

But anything you can make $ with critical thought alone is my kinda $ maker :D
