yeah lol. When im at peoples houses and they make breakfast they forget i dont eat eggs, so i have to go all out with the ketchup, or find their dog and feed it.
ewwwww that looks so nasty i shouldnt talk though, i lov epizza pops >.> i just have ceral and coffee or tea for breakfast
I actually love croissant pockets (the hot pockets witht the flakier crust.) I know they are not healthy, and I only eat them on rare occasions, but they are good. Especially the ham and cheese ones. I tried the Toaster Scrambles and they are not half bad actually. I like them because as Amanda said they have a ton of cheese in them and not many eggs, and the bacon gets super crispy, the way I like it. So yeah, rock on. I wish I had one now actually, but I am going on a diet, tryin to get a nice six pack going for spring break. After that though, I'm comin to Texass and loadin up on toaster pocket goodness.
Like I said, I generally try to stay away from processed foods, especially lately, but sometimes I gotta have one, just like how someone would start craving for a big bowl of triple chocolate chunk ice cream. Oooohhhh that sounds good.
I wonder if anyone has tried those new calzone hot pocket things. I don't know about them, I am afraid they might do an injustice to the real thing.
I make my own breakfast pockets and freeze them. And I love them! It takes a whole afternoon to make them, but you can do 4 batches that can last you for nearly 2 months. They end up looking something like this, only much less artificial: Here is my recipe if anyone cares to try: Breakfast Pockets Yield: 14 servings Ingredients DOUGH: 2 pkg (1/4 oz each) active dry yeast 1/2 c. warm water (110 to 115) 3/4 c. warm evaporated milk 1/2 c. vegetable oil 1/4 c. sugar 1 egg 1 tsp. salt 3 to 4 c. all purpose flour (I start with 3 3/4 c. to mix the dough but you still have to roll the dough out later, eh?) FILLING: 1 lb. bulk pork sausage or ham/bacon 1/2 c. chopped onion 2 1/2 c. frozen shredded hash browns, thawed 7 eggs, lightly beaten 3 c. (12 oz) shredded cheddar 3 Tbsp. milk 1/2 tsp. garlic salt 1/2 tsp. salt 1/2 tsp. pepper a pinch of cayenne pepper or more. Seasoning is all preference. Directions 1) In a mixing bowl dissolve yeastt in water. Add evaporated milk, oil, sugar, egg, salt, and 2 c. flour; beat until smooth. Add enough remaining flower to form a soft dough (do not knead - I put 3 3/4 c. in at this time). Cover and let rise in a warm place until doubled, about 1 hr. 2) Meanwhile, in a skillet cook the sausage and onion over medium heat until sausage is no longer pink; drain. 3) Add hash browns, eggs, milk and seasonings. Cook and stir until the eggs are completely set. Sprinkle with cheese and set heat to warm. 4) Punch dough down; divide into 14 pieces. On a floured surface, roll out dough into 7-inch circles. (This is the funnest part!!!) Top each with about 1/3 c. filling (I definitely make mine bigger than 1/3 c. - push for half a cup - as long as you can close the pocket up - and it's best to put the filling on one side of the cirlce); fold dough over filling and pinch the edges to seal (pinch them upwards). Place on greased backing sheets. 5) Bake at 350F for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown.
They keep trying to trick everyone with their labels. The real stuff says 'pasteurized process cheese food'. The fake stuff says 'pasteurized process cheese imitation.' The fake stuff is often casein with oil mixed in and some orange food color. .
Some of those hot pocket things have a lot of fat and sodium. 12g of fat in 110 calories. 5g per 100 cal is considered as being on the fatty side. http://www.dietfacts.com/html/nutrition-facts/hot-pockets-pizza-minis-double-cheese-pizza-flavor-bite-sized-pizza-snack-8598.htm http://www.fitbygeno.com/fitness_tips_2001,_no_5,_vol_1,_pg_1.htm .
