I personally think wax can ruin some beautiful dreads. Any horror stories? Any who disagree?

I think you'll find nearly complete consensus with that statement on these forums. BTW welcome to the forums.

I've had lots of clients with beautiful dreads who used wax. I'm a dreadnurse :p and use crochetinghooks to put loose hairs in. But when I tried to put the crochetinghook in it didn't work at all. The locks were hard like stone :S and when I managed to put it through all kinda waxy dirt came out. Very gross.... but the locks looked great ..

when I first started my dreading journey, I used wax. I didn't know anydifferent and I was going on what everyone else said "use wax". That lasted 2 months. I thought they were starting to knot up really well because they felt really firm, WRONG, that was just the wax. Ew. Oh, and a warning to anyone wanting to get wax out, hot water burns! The amount of times I spent bent over with my dreads in a sink of boiling water is too many to count! Worked wonders though and my dreads are so much better for it.
