The older the dream is, the greater the chance that I've forgotten it, but this rule doesn't seem to apply while I'm dreaming.

When I dream, no matter what I'm dreaming about, I can actively recall the first time I've had a wide array of, what should be, long forgotten dreams.

Has anyone else experienced this? Is there an explanation for it?

I've had that happen. I had a dream that I remembered that I had when I was 5. I don't think there's really an explanation for it, I'm guessing you keep your dreams stored somewhere in you unconscious brain, and when they resurface you know exactly what's going on.

The same area of the brain, the same neurons are firing.
