Hello everyone! I hope you all are having a fantastic new year and being as crafty as you can. It's been a while since I have posted here and I really miss seeing everyones lovely creations. I don't recall if I came here to let you all know that I closed up shop under TwistedStitches on Etsy, but I will no longer be selling under that name due to issues. I will also no longer be selling on Etsy. It was a hard decision, but I decided that Etsy is no longer the place I want to sell on. I got tired of the abuse and treatment by the admins toward their sellers. They just seemed to be cutting off the hand that feeds them by allowing such horrible abuse to continue not only by the admin themselves, but by other sellers who openly abuse and harrass other members on their site. It just became a place I no longer want to be associated with. I am currently looking at setting up shop on a few other sites (Dawanda and Big Cartel), while working on my own site. Hopefully things will get into order and I can get back to creating and doing what I love. In the meantime, I just wanted to say hello and let you all know I was thinking about you and sending you all good vibes. Hipmoon
Hello hipmoon, i wish you all the best in 2008 to. i wish you luck with setting something up on the other site's! I love to see creations from you, so when you are finished with the website (wich is never of course) let us see it! Nananie
wow, what kind of abuse? i haven't seen any, but then i have yet to sell anything on etsy. i love to buy though, lol
im sorry that that happend to you. I notice sometimes on the forums that people are bitey to other groups etc. there is definately a clickyness to the forums. I just use it to sell anyway and gain more customers before i set up my own shop. so well done to you for taking the jump its so encouraging.
Its great to see you back around Hipforums Sorry to hear of your troubles with Etsy but I think it is fantastic that you're thinking of setting up your own site! Be sure to post your url here so all of us can check it out and admire your creations.
Thanks everyone. I will defnitely post my goods once I get things up and running again. As for Etsy.. well, let the past be the past. Hope you all are well.
Aww I miss seein you on etsy, but I see what you mean. There was an article that I felt insulted by but who knows it could have been taken out of context :-/ From BBC News~ http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/technology/7200330.stm
Pharoah: I totally see what you mean by feeling insulted by what Matt said in that article. To quote him: "It's easier for people to be artists nowadays, you do not need to be able to draw. You can use Photoshop or software like that," he said. "You do not need to spend six years as an apprentice." -Matt Stinchcomb Yikes, so basically what he is saying is, it's easy to do what we do. Our art is something anyone can do without experience and it basically takes no real talent. Etsy is run by young people who lack experience. The site is in dire need of people who know what they are doing and know how to run a business. Time and time again, site malfunctions, poor customer service and lack of respect for sellers has gotten them in hot water with their community. People are slowly getting tired of it and are moving to other venues to sell.
Yeah, and photoshop is a breeze It used to be anyone had a chance at being on the front page via a treasury, now the front page treasury seems to be exclusive to Etsy team members. "Etsy is run by young people who lack experience. The site is in dire need of people who know what they are doing and know how to run a business. Time and time again, site malfunctions, poor customer service and lack of respect for sellers has gotten them in hot water with their community. People are slowly getting tired of it and are moving to other venues to sell." So True, I've seen businesses Plummet (great businesses with great Ideas) because the person in charge didnt know how to run one... I love etsy I just hope it doesnt keep turning, but I can smell it!
