Please don't force your values upon others. I do in fact pronounce caramel the way it is written. Different nationalities pronounce such words very differently. I should think that is why this thread was created in the first place; to find out how people pronounce such words not for people to flame each other. I imagine you would be quite offended if I told you the way you have spoken all your life is wrong and that you must conform to Queen's English. Please have the same respect for others.

Doesn't mean we can't have our own opinions.
The kereckt Strine (Australian) pr'nunciation is "care-uh-mul", with the emphasis on the "care" bit. You kind of say it through your nose and drawl it out. That's the way it's said in the bush anyway. Great thread, this one.
