Heh heh heh. Nice try buddy. Let's answer each question one by one. 1. No I don't ACTUALLY believe one way or another. 2. No I don't dismiss the idea of a God, nor do I accept it. 3. I absolutely respect all religions, but that doesn't mean I can't challenge them. 4. I absolutely take responsibility for my own life. I accept consequences, and take my do's, I don't cast blame or judgement, I have my own set of beliefs that I can justify any time of the day. And I'm not so stubborn that I won't alter my beliefs from time to time. OK, YOUR TURN.
I've already talked prophecies to death with you. You have every right to believe what you will. But that doesn't mean I have to believe everything that you do. Your prophecies do not prove the existance of god. They just prove that someone made prophecies, and that by some interpretations, some came true. You could use many of your "prophecies" to describe many moments in history, and they will describe many moments in the future as well. Regardless of any of that, it does not prove the existance of god. It just proves the existance of prophets.
I never said that god doesn't exist. I never even implied that I thought that. I am just trying to point out that you are going to be hard pressed to find any proof that he does. I am not an atheist. I am just disagreeing with JesusDiedForU's "proof" I don't have proof one way or the other if god exists or not....but yet, I'm not the one claiming to.
I agree. But how can people convince themselves that it is so real? I admit, I have never felt something that I could claim to be God. Nor do I think I've ever been in love. Maybe it's something that you do just know once you feel it. Maybe it's all wishful thinking on everyone's part.
Because just men can know the future.... With all the prophetic, archaeological, scientic proof of the Bible it takes more faith to deny the Bible then to believe it. Jesus wants everyone to be with him but "they refuse to love the truth and so be saved."
So why take the chance that there isn't one why not go with the one with the most proof.... If I die I am good both ways... if there is a God or not.... But if you die your good only one way(if there is no god) I would never take that chance.... and you know what, even if there wasn't a God I would still follow the way of the Bible because it is so pure.
Why not just have a relationship with your higher power wether it be God or Jesus or whatever? Insted of trying to convince the rest of the world. Sadly, this is where true religious beliefs and faith get lost.
Because there can either be one true relgion or no religion at all.... The Bible is religious text with the provable facts(if you don't see that they you are just spiritually blind and look only at your own lust.) Jesus says most people will not believe .... but they have a chance... he wants everyone to be with him but they deny him. How great is salvation and most people will reject it to the grave.
I find this impossible, given the evidence, either you do are you don't. Granted, one can say he believes that God's (non-)existence is possible, however, at any given moment he is inclined to believe one way or the other Agian, I find this is imposible, either you accept or reject it, there is not middle ground. Good, then we argee on this one. It's nice to see that the postmodern bug hasn't bitten everybody. I think the original question was a confused one. All right, here we go: 1. There are two (actually more but I'll only mention two) problems with this first one. First "proof" is person relative, that is, what's proof enough for me, may not be proof enough for you. A common example is the atheist/theist who finds a praticular argument utterly convincing, only to later find that those of the a different (or often time same) position find the same argument utterly unconvincing. Second, you expect the theist to meet an imposible criteria. You challenge him to, "Give me evidence that cannot be argued [against]." We'll good luck my friend, I hope you like waiting! The problem here is that evidence can always be argued against, or at least I think. Even a deductive argument has the problem of universals (which you can even find in this post: "evidence can always be argued against"), which gives a doubter room to work. Take for example: 1. All men are mortal 2. Socrates was a man 3. Therefore Socrates was mortal The doubter can say, "Well, the proposition 'all men are mortal' is based on past experience, and unbroken testimony, however we have no assurance that the future will be like the past, this is just assumption that presupposes certain laws (cause and effect, for example) which are taken as first principles. Perhaps there will one day be a man who defies this proposition." Deduction itself presupposes the law of contradiction which is a first principle. But anyway, you caught my drift? 2. This one is too vague. Evidence against God, doesn't disprove Him, it's only evidence agaisnt Him, or perhaps evidence against a false concept of Him. For example, I think it can be easily shown that onmipotence does not mean God can do anything by simply asking the question "Can God create a rock so big that He Himself cannot lift it?" This question, which some use as evidence against God, only disproves a false notion of God. 3. As I already said, I agree with you on this one 4. This question doen't make to much sense to me. A person is ultimately "run" by his worldview.
ok, i don't have time tonight to read what everyone else has written, so if i repeat something i apologize. God does indeed exist, he is part of you, part of us all. you want something tangible, take a deep breathe, it is God that gives you that air and the lungs with which to breathe. as far as seeing and embracing God in your life, people come to him in many, many different ways and as to how you will find him only God can say, but you will know it when it happens and you will have NO questions. Some people are born knowing him, some people are raised knowing him, some people find him when they have a tragedy in their life, and some people try every other thing their is before they finally try to know him. you can look to people to learn about God and about Jesus, but you truelly know them, you have to look to God and Jesus. and yes i REALLY do know God exists, it is not something i want to believe, it is fact! God bless you on your journey!
I can't prove which religion is right, however using elementry physics I can show that some extraplanar force is necessary for the laws of nature to function on this the physical plane of existence. 1. Every action has an equal and opposite reaction. Think of Dominos, if you set them up and no force pushes them they never start. How can there be any existence now if "some force" had not initated the first action. 2. In the physical plane energy can neither be created or destroyed, only transformed from one form to another. Some force had to create all that is here or it could not be so. Let me ask you: What pushed the primodial dominos and what created the prime material plane? Both of these simple scientific laws present a paradox that can only be explained through some extra planar force. Call it God or what ever you choose, something must exist.
Well, what if you are wrong and Muslims are right, or Buddists, or Jews, or Hindu? There are many religions out there, many different gods and prophets. Yours is not the only one. It's like saying, we don't know for sure if aliens in UFO's exist, so why not go stand in a cornfield every night trying to make contact? I am not going to do that any more than I am going to pretend to be a chiristian.
