this inspired me to try my hand once more at making a passable alfredo sauce (mine, like that of my parents, always comes out edible but without a really smooth, creamy texture)

anyway i went to the store and got some good cheese....thought i got romano (which i like better than parmesan) but it turns out i got asiago, which i still prefer to parmesan usually but do not like as well as romano. hopefully this should work fine...its fairly similar to both. and its fresher, softer, moister, and tastier than the containers of powdered junk made by kraft and such.

also got some basil (dried, unfortunately, but i can't be too picky all the time with my level of income) and fettucine. i already have heavy cream which i brought home from work today, and i took out a chicken breast to thaw.

so my dinner tonight will be fettuccine alfredo made with sauteed chicken breast and perhaps (probably) shallots. i'll probably have peas or lima beans as a side dish....alfredo sauce isnt exactly good for you, and i ate a lot of junk food yesterday, too. i'm craving some veggies

oh, and i've got fresh garlic and stuff for the food, too.

and a bottle of pinkus organic ur pils, which i've never had. hopefully it will accompany the food nicely. being a german pilsener i'm sure it will be pleasanty malty and mildly hoppy, and compliment rather than overpower the flavor of the food

    I love strawberry margaritas :)

I actually love the word margarita, it's so pretty. It means daisy in Spanish and daisies are my favorite flowers, well that and tulips, but why am I talking about flowers when this is about food ? [IMG]

The food as always sounds great Jadesmom. I'm happy you have moved and things are going well for you.

Glad it worked out for you! :) I've never heard of it being made with romano or asiago, but I have used different italian cheese blends in the past, and all work fine. Aside from mozzarella and cheddar and that stuff lol.

And yes it is very fattening, but good once in awhile.

Tonight I made meatball grinders with my leftover meatballs since I made 25 huge meatballs!! :)

Well they came out like giant calzones. I made one according to rennes recipe and one with riccota instead of feta and added artichoke hearts. when i put them in the oven i expected them to come out looking a mess considering my shitty rolling of the bread skills. but they turned out fantastic and tasty!!!

They look good, but next time you should try to roll the dough out into a huge thin circle/oblong shape, and then you can like jelly roll it. Then you just slice it, and you'll end up with pretty little pieces with layers of dough and cheese inside. I should have taken a pic of my last bread. Since I tucked the sides of the dough in before I rolled it, the ends looked like crossiants. But your bread does look tasty!
