Im getting like $800 in a few weeks and check out what Im getting; Big Muff, Tape Delay, Flanger, Fuzz Face, and a new guitar. How bad ass is that? I think Im gonna get a tele but Ive been thinking about how to personalize it to give my ''signature'' look, you know like Jerry Garcia had all the weird designs and stuff add on, and Steve Vai has a handle on the guitar and some inlays on the fretboard, and Soundgarden's frontman had the yellow sparkle Les Paul in the Black Hole Sun vid. So does anyone have any tips on what to keep in mind or look for when your adding that final touch to it? [IMG]

Dont get specific pedals dude. Buy a cheap multi effects processor, maybe like 200$ if you shop right.

If you want to costomize your guitar, look around for some guitar painting tools, maybe a wood burner i dunno. I always thought a nice abstract paintjob would be cool.

btw, make sure you dont get a squier.

Cheap & nasty. OK for when you're just starting out, but really you want the genuine Fender.. nothing beats an authentic Strat or Tele!

I play grunge, 90's alternative, and 60s/70s rock, but I wanna learn some psychedelic stuff. Im really into anti corporate stuff like Rage Against the Machine. How about you?

I actually ended up getting a squire. and man, its nothing like you said. in fact its my favorite guitar. its been modded up though. its got a mini humbucker, a strat single coil pick up and a standard tele pickup on it. it is badass. stays in tune, strings are just the right height from the frets, great dude. ohh....it was affordable too. Yeah they seem decent at first, but the quality is poor. My first electric was a squire strat, and i played it for maybe 2 hours in total, out of a year and a bit. The sound is too generic and low grade.

I got a Jackson now, and i can barly set it down.

Your only 15 though, so give it another year and go find a nice genuine fender and you'll feel the difference.

i play a whole lot of stuff because i'm really into music, but at the moment its mainly classic rock like led zep, plus a lot of ratm, chilis, some acoustic stuff, etc. i've recently got into the psychedelic stuff as well- like the beatles, floyd, and the rest. i also quite like electronic stuff like boards of canada, but its kind of impossible to play on guitar...
IMO squires are great guitars to start on- they're solid and versatile and do the job nicely.

not all squires are bad dude. There are some really decent ones out there. The cheapest squires are shit. To whoever said get the multi FX processor...hell no. Unless you want to spend a thousand on like a TC electronics G force or something, I wouldnt do it. In my opinion it is better to get specific pedals that really do what you want them to do. $800 bucks is cool, but I would spend that all on a nice guitar. I guess at your age, I would have done the same thing you're doin. I mean, you coulda gotten a fender thinline tele or something...man those sound good and only about 6 bills. Youd still have enough for 2-3 boss pedals, which I really like.

The one I got is awesome. I got a '69 Fender Mustang, and I like the squire better...weird. yea I dont want a multi fx pedal for the same reason. But lately I still got around 500 bucks so I was thinking about getting an Ibanez. If I cant get a good new one, then Im hittin ebay. Itll all work out tho, so its cool.
