Hi, I've just started dating a guy, who admitted he has Herpes, and is on medication for it. I'm just a little curious with a few things, i like him for him.. and not just sex. I understand we can have sex with the use of a condom. But what if in the future we wanted to try for a child, Would him having herpes effect me? or the child? And if we ever had unprotected sex, would i be at risk.. after he's taken all his medication and stuff, could i still catch it? What happens if we wanted to give oral to one another, would i be safe to give him oral without a condom... I really don't know much about it, and these are the main questions in which i need answers for. If anyone could help me, i'd be very greatful! Kind Regards. Tanjun
I would recommend that both of you take a trip to a family planning clinic like Planned Parenthood and talk to the nurses/counselors there. They could help you with your situation.
okay...some answers...but yes, planned parenthood can also help. 1. you can catch herpes when he is on medicine, the chances are not as high, but you still can. (if you want children you can do the whole artificial insemination thing, but that is all up to you and your beliefs) 2. yes, you can pass herpes to your children. It is not 100% for sure, but if you contract herpes, the child can contract it while being born 3. giving oral is not safe, you can get herpes, and probably will. i suggest a flavored condom or something like that...they actually don't taste bad at all hope that all helps sweety!
no problem! i was one of those kids that actually paid attention in health class...I also do a lot of research and such...i think it is important to know a lot about sex, a lot of things in this world revolve around sex.
