I am extrememly disappointed and shocked to not find much on the legendary Roald Dahl.

So this is a whole thread dedicated to him.
What are your favourite Dahl stories/poems?

I hate his childrens stuff, although his adult stories are supposed to be good.

I quite like the children's stuff because he was infamous for hating children and there's always something dark about his children's stories.

Roald Dahl is one of my favorites. I love the BFG. I don't think he hated children. I have read a lot about him and I think he was just grouchy. ;)

I LOVED The Witches. The movie isn't half-bad either.

Matilda is one of my absolute favorite books. I've read it so many times since I was little. Even now, I still pick it up and reread it fairly often.

I loved Matilda when I was a kid, because I could really relate to the title character.

I love Roald Dahl... Danny Champion of the world, Willie Wonka, Matilda, James and the Giant Peach, Henry Sugar, and others. I think his humor is great, he is all about poaching everything.

I remember our teacher in first grade (or was it third) reading James and the giant peach and Matilda to us. I still remember the torture chamber in Matilda and when the aunts in James got squished. Quite morbid! :p

He understood children's darker side. Contemporary stuff doesn't seem to have it. JM Barrie had it. Peter Pan is sick. Not a big fan of his adult stories, but I might give them another go some time.

Roald Dahl made growing up fun, I loved Matilda (the movie was equally funny) James and the giant peach The Twits and the magic finger (to name a few lol). Looking forward to seeing what they do with Fantastic Mr Fox (coming out in November)

I love Roald Dahl: Matilda, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, The Twits, Rhyme Stew and The BFG were some of my favorite books growing up.

I love all the books that have been mentioned. His auto-biographies are fascinating as well. Weaselpop was right: he was able to be dark and humorous in a way that children could understand, appreciate and not end up traumatized by. :D He's my favorite children's book author!

He is actually the reason why i like reading

I should buy a collection of his books really…

I think it would be a very sad think if he becomes a forgotten writer:eek:
