i don't see why hippies wouldn't vote for him, especially rainbows. rainbows, especially at gatherings rely on themselves and each other to make their decisions, they don't need help from babylon. that is a very republican lifestyle. lower taxes, the tax cutting that Ron Paul wants will not give less money to social programs, it will cut the funding to the war and to the politicians pockets. he wants to pull directly out of the war. pro hippie, yes, i think so. he wants the immediate release of pure drug offenders from prisons, thus ending a multi-decade campaign of racism put forth by the "war on drugs. they should rename it the "war on minorities". hippie ideal, yes. making the federal government smaller and putting the power closer to the hands of the people in the state level. who wouldn't want that? getting rid of the patriot act, obvious hippie ideal. i could keep going but i gotta go eat dinner... i might finish this post later or start a new one.
eh he wants to cut taxes across the board. voted against the estate tax and such. The fact is that many social programs are very underfunded. Not a big fan of his ideas concerning health care, or immigration. And like I said before, a vote for Ron Paul is a vote against the next best candidate, because he will not win.
yeah, i understand why some would not vote for him, which is cool with me. just get out and vote! personally i am not voting for him because I'm trying to "pick the winner". I'm voting for him because I'm trying to pick the candidate that best represents my beliefs.
The illegalization of marijuana was the worst thing that happened to democracy. And most folks haven't figured it out. With the illegalization of mj the feds achieved the dis-enfranchisement of a critical percentage of the left vote. Most elections are decided by a factor of less than the percentage of disenfranchised. I assume that we understand that most of the disenfranchised voters are either too poor to afford a lawyer, or too un-white to sway a jury, or just plain too left/weird to be considered innocent of anything.
he does want to cut taxes, your taxes. he doesn't want us to be employees of the federal gov't any longer and i completely agree. i despise sending almost 1/4 of my hard earned money to the international banks. you do realize that's where it ends up? it doesn't pay for gov't services. all the money we send to the IRS is used to pay interest on money BORROWED from the federal reserve. social programs aren't going to just disappear. Paul has talked about citizens being able to opt out of social security. there are so many charitable NGOs out there that we really don't need a lot of what the federal gov't offers. look at the out-pouring of offers of help and money to help New Orleans after Katrina. i like the idea of us helping each other out in times of need a lot more than the nanny-state doing it all. this doesn't mean that there can't or won't be a health care plan at the state level but until the federal gov't and insurance companies stepped into the picture there wasn't such a lack of health care. many hospitals were non-profit and if the big money incentive disappears, then hopefully we'll go back to something like that. gov't interference has been a huge boost to the health care industry and a big reason for price increases. as far as immigration goes, most of it today is illegal. i don't like turning others away from our borders but do you realize that real wages have been stagnant for more than 20 years? granted this is only partially due to immigration but it's definitely a factor. decrease the size of the labor pool and wages always rise. it's simple economics. everytime i hear or read that kind of defeatist attittude BS it makes me sick. why can't Ron Paul win? is it because the elections are rigged? well they were fixed in some Ohio precincts in 2006 but the GOP was STILL VOTED OUT. if it can happen there, it can happen nationwide. it just takes a lot of effort and there just doesn't seem to be the will to make it happen. it's easier to just whine about how it can't happen, someone else makes those decisions, or whatever lame excuse you can think of today. Ron Paul said that we need to grow up as a nation. that we can't be children taken care of by the state any longer because we're about to lose it all. we can all see our rights slipping away. why can't we the people do something about it?
' Been a rainbow for 16 years, 'been reading philosophical and political doctrines since I was in middle school, 'been a hardcore/punk supporter-dj-activist for 25 plus years, etc. In general I consider myself somewhat well informed and educated...working on my graduate degree right now as a matter of fact...the point? There's only one guy who's truly got my interest this time around-Ron Paul. 'Nuff said. Lovin' y'all for sure, regardless of who you support by the way!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
as one who has been in and out of the rainbow world since 1980, i would have to agree with malaka.. if a "rainbow" chooses to participate in this farce this country calls "free elections", the only candidate would be ron paul. after all are we as a family not against government interference? are we not all about taking care of our own without the government dictating how we should do it? ron paul would at least attempt to do away with one level of this government dictatorship we live under.. and to those who say a vote for someone who cant win is a wasted vote.. thats just what they want you to think.. if everyone that thinks outside the box is labeled "unelectable" by the mainstream media and people like you choose not to vote for them because of that then the system has no fears of change.
Kucinich is supposedly throwing in the towel today, to focus on maintaining his seat in congress. How very disappointing. Perhaps I will vote for cherrio.
I can't vote for anyone that ignores issues of poverty and the wealth gap. Ron Paul speaks truth which is refreshing but it's not my truth. Edwards talks about class issues more than any canidate (depsite his haircut and house) he is like those rich kids who gave their house to Leary. yup.
Hey there! Just wanted to pipe in on this-Ron Paul's plan for poverty and the wealth gap is the most sound of all! Help the Sheeple out of their economic mess (maxing out credit cards on useless bling bought at Chinamart) by eliminating the IRS/National Reserve and going back to a "hard" standard of money (gold, etc.) whereby something ACTUALLY backs our income...right now it's just paper money based on "credit". Once the economic ship is righted and the government's bureaucratic monopoly of our monetary standard is ended, it'll be much easier for people to shape their own economic destiny. As it stands now, it's almost impossible for people to have any meaningful degree of class mobility. All of you brothers and sisters should watch a three part flick you can find online called "Zeitgeist"...it'll help explain where we were, where we are and most importantly, where we're headed if we, as family especially, don't help people see the truths around 'em.
