Yup it is some sort of all in one tool thing that is a table saw, lathe, drill press, drun sander, disk sander and some other crap. It came with all sorts of neat little doodads and the funny thing is, I have no idea what the hell I got it for. I am not much of a woodworker but I am good at not wanting to pass up a good deal so I grabbed it up. I am so proud of myself.
I am looking for a wood type of person thru my friends. I know a few but they all have there own stuff so I am seeking a person who dont have and needs one around my town. I am sure I shall locate a person soon. This thing is in my work van and it takes up almost the whole back, lol
Computer tower and all the guts of coarse but no monitor, kb or mouse. I was into the system cheap enough so it made me happy even if it was useless to me to get this thing.
i remember the smithie, that's one hell of a tool to be creative. it isn't just for wood. but anyway, wear eye protection and all the rest of standard workspace safety precautions and have fun. wish the 'f' i had one and my supposedly workshop space wasn't too full of my wife's crap to use it. =^^= .../\...
Yea I'd like to see a picture as well. Most of the tools like that are a neat idea, but are a major pain in the ass to use.....just not practical.
You are a search guru Scarlette.. is that "the smithie" ? It doesn't look like it has all the things YnB described.
ive saw those things before,, you need a degree in engineering to switch it from one tool to another .. well thats a exaggeration, but its a pain in the ass to switch them all around, no matter what there lil website says..as i recall theres a lot of constant adjusting etc. as well..
Kind of reminds me of the little play power tool shop thingy I had as a kid. :agree: It would take longer to set it up than it would to do the actual work.
And now you know how I ended up with it, lol No I played a bit at his wouse with it and it seemed simple enough to me to do things on. I would not want to like have to cut one item then drill it then lathe it ect or it would get to be a pain but them again I would have to built a pretty large place to house all seperate pieces that did the same thig too! Your orignal statement is pretty true though, I mean if your a serious wood worker then this unit is a waste of time for them, they need all the stuff readily available but if your me and just end up making firewood this is pretty damn cool!
That is, in fact, a Shopsmith Mark V, one of the most versatile woodworking tools you can buy, value at alittle over $3500 in good condition. And I wouldn't own one, it's too time consuming to break it down and change from one setup to another. Besides, I have all of the tools it can become and I got most of them the saame way Yank did: I traded worthless shit for them. But it's real purrrrrty...
