:H Decided to shift away from 'biker type' look so I'm gonna' locks up.Very excited! can't wait, decided to try the neglect method.Up to now been wearing pony tail constantly and just was wondering is it best not to tie it up while it's doin' it's 'thang', grateful for any advice.Cheers! PEACE & LOVE. :detective
i would not tie it up if i were you, it will probably just knot up in the pony tail, and you'll have one big dread. some of my friends that used back combing, and put it up in a pony said some dreads stick together, so watch out for that too.
Wearing your hair down or up in a tam is best because they'll knot up easier and nicer. If you have no choice (like you need to wear em up for work or something) just take them down when you get home and occasionally rip apart any dreads that are joining together more than you'd like them to. I had to wear my hair up for work during the first couple years of goin' natural... and while it wasn't ideal, my hair locked up nicely regardless. Just use common sense and let your hair "breathe" when you can by lettin' it flow. p.s. good luck with your journey... it's a long but rewarding process
a pony tail is fine for the first few months,in fact i kept mine in a braid for a week at a time until the dreading proccess really took in an i could no longer braid it. in fact i still keep mine pulled back.. i dreaded my waist length hair the natural way (some call it neglect). your hair will begin to dread at the base of your pony tail first(at least mine did). depending on how large of a beaver tail you want you can let that dread grab what hair it wants till its large enough, then start ripping... or do as i did an just let it go.. it will not dread into 1 big dread.. your hair naturally sections off.. ive not touched mine except to rip in over a year. it stays in a pony tail at least 12 hours a day and i have 39 dreads.. so no worries a pony tail is all good..
ah..i suppose i spoke out of experience..sorry! always take advice from people who have done it before you
i even wore a ball cap all the way through,, still do,, although ive had a issue finding one big enough to fit over my dreads now...
