Alright... I don't really have any idea what I'm talking about *haha*... I guess I am trying to find some "tribal" sounding music. You know... Rhythmic, with lots of percussion. Not so much an African feel as something you might hear in a yoga class, or maybe a combo of the two. Does that make sense? *scratches head* Maybe something new-agey? I dunno... Just looking for some good mud-dancing music. Can anybody help me out?
Shpongle has some cool tribal music, check out a song by them called "A New Way to say Hooray" awesome song it off the album Tales of the inexpressible
By "tribal sound" do you mean "Hindi"? Hindi is a term designated to music with Indian (India not Native American) influence. I have actually been looking for some really good Hindi music. Any suggestions? Maybe tribal is the same thing..
Tribal is far more encompassing than Hindi. That'd be like saying Robert Mirabal is the end all of tribal music (He's native American) For some Subcontinent inspired/ Central Aisa inspired music without a dependence on loops and electronic tricks, check out Fareed Haque Group. Tabla Beat Science is worth a listen or six hundred, too.
Tabla Beat Science is awesome! However, I still long for more vocals in addition to that incredible music. There is something about the Hindi vocal style that you don't find in any other genre of music. Thanks for your help!
Rusted Root! My favorite songs are "Ecstasy" and "Primal Scream" but they are very tribal with lots of cool drumming.
If you are looking for Native American tribal. Try Sacred Spirits....some electronic beats and mixed with tribal drumming and chants. Pretty awesome. One of my favorites!
