1. The Hipforums announces it first ever fundraiser. After nearly 30 years online, we must ask our members and guests to help support the website. Thanks to years of ongoing financial support of our members, advertisers and volunteer admin staff, we have been able to keep the forums alive.

Now we must ask for help as available funds have all been used for our Internet server and other fees.

So please donate any amount to our PayPal account donate@Hipforum.com to keep the site going. If we can get enough for a few months fees, we won't need to nag you again!

I've been doing a lot of thinking... like most people, I have a full time job. I work 40+ hours a week, 8+ a day, come home, and rest for the next day of work. It seems like life it just taken up with work, work, work... like, what's the point? Right now I have no choice but to work in fast food since I don't own a car and its the only job I can get within walking/biking distance. My boyfriend and I live together, both work long hours, and it seems like all we do is work... where is the enjoyment in life, besides the little moments? it just seems like I'm wasting away...
any advice? Like, how to make things easier or something?

It all depends on the kind of life you want to lead, if you want to life in the city and have a social acceptable life style and quality like most people... you have to make money working. If you dont have a college degree the chances of leaving trivial jobs are low and consequently a change in you routine is practically non existant.
Its very mediocre to go through life working just to pay bills and survive in big cities.

I myself want to kick this city ang adventure myself in Costa Rica, ive got some money invested and my plan is to keep it invested in Brasil and have only my profit sent to where ever i am and enjoy life, surfing and loving !!!

Look at how much you spend a month. Is there any way you could reduce it? How much debt do you have? (if any)
Being debt-free is the first step. Learning not to be a slave to the idea of having many many posessions is the next.
Maybe consider moving somewhere nearer to a better job? And 8 hours a day is fucking bullshit, nobody should be forced to work that much, that's slave labour!

I hope that never happens to me, but I know it will. I would happily work any under the table job going as long as i had enough to be going on with and freedom.

    look at this another way:
Jerry Garcia did nothing but work, and it fed his soul (for a while).

I work two jobs, both in creative fields, and love 'em. I do get tired, can't do the impulsive weekend trip, and for now, that's OK.
I'd love to get on a 4-10 schedule at the paper, but the venue is still eating weekends.

Basically, do what you love, or at least do something with people you really like.

You have to make time for a partner.
With 168 hours in a week, you have to mentally budget them.
