anyone like the Mars Volta? Ever since I heard De-Loused in the Comatorium every other piece of music he hear just seeems blah in comparison. Frances the Mute is coming out this October. This one is only 5 songs. lol anyway, anyone who is into pychedelic/free jazz/progressive/rock/latin/punk/salsa check out The Mars Volta. they will own your soul.
You like The Mars Volta too. Most of my friends think they're too experimental. Nice one brother. Their like a new type of Progressive Rock, I prefer the older stuff but they're still really good musicians and song writers. I listened to them the other day actually.
The Mars Volta are awesome. They're one of my favourite bands of recent years... When you listen to the stuff At The Drive In made though, it's not suprising they're amazing! I actually lost my Mars Volta CD a while back, I'm SO pissed off about that. I'm going to have to buy it again...
of course. it's tool. yea, i saw mars volta with a perfect circle. it was a good concert. i was anxious to hear apc over the mars volta but they put on a good show. the sounds the guitarist gets. almost makes me want a line 6 guitar.
Mars Volta is amazing. Listen to Fugazi if you find yourself in a slump. They really influenced Mars Voltas sound.
I really like Mars Volta, but there are some times when I'm listening to them and my mind just gets overloaded from the sound and I have to turn it off. But they're awsome nonetheless.
i completely agree with this guy. tool is the greatest band ever in my opinion. and i saw APC in concert but i cant remember the name of their opening band. i've never heard mars volta before so it might have been them. i dunno. that was the best show i ever seen tho...
I'm yet to hear them but everything I've heard about them here and elsewhere makes me want to check 'em out.
YAY, God I fucking love The Mars Volta! John Theodore the drummer is great, the whole band is great, Flea on the album, the visual imagry from the lyrics. Arg I could write long line of poetry about them, but im content now on being grateful someone else in here likes them. Also I saw them live twice and I have to say it was probably the best live show I saw, the singer is energetic and exciting, he hits every note you hear on the album. The whole band exudes energy and they give it their all when they go out on stage.
You can tell the guys who split to form Mars Volta were already doing a few musical things similar to TMV, on the At the Drive In's last album, Relationship of Command. But I like TMV a bit better, thought ATDI was still awesome as hell.
