A Million Little Pieces by James Frey and My Friend Leonard are by far the best books I've ever read. I don't really care about Oprahs bashing opinions and what others say. Although it's not a full truth story, it is still brilliant. I have been looking forever to find any book I could enjoy even half as much as these. Suggestions please?!? Love, Missyy
A Million Little Pieces was a good book but a few months after I read that and the sequel was when the whole thing with Oprah came about. It pissed me off when I heard that he lied about it because he was supposed to be so in love with Lily (the woman he met in rehab) and then she killed herself while he was in jail (and then it came out that he was never in jail after he left rehab or at least not as long as he said he was) that was just a big "what the fuck?" for me. And I didn't like the sequel. If you're looking for books with similar scenarios (i.e.-drugs) then go read these books (which I feel are much better than those two could ever have been, not to put down your taste in books however) Candy (by Luke Davies) is about an addict who falls in love with a girl and then she falls in love with heroin and they both go on a downward spiral quickly. This was very well written. I loved this book. Requiem For A Dream, Junky, Smack, Crank, and Glass are all other favorites of mine that are about drugs and drug addicts. The first three being about heroin and the last two about crystal meth. If you'd like anymore suggestions just ask
I love this book and by far my favorite. Yet i dont care if he lied about stupid shit like that. Its still a good book.
i like it, and went into it knowing that some of it was fiction. i don't really care, the most important part is his transition of apathy for living to his will to get better. i think that the whole controversy and oprah protecting her reputation overshadow this message about his searh for meaning in life. i haven't finished it yet, but one of these days.
I had no idea that it was not fact completely. It does'nt really change anything though. I am almost done with it. I am really enjoying it.
I actually did not know anything about the lies connected to this book until after I read it, so it made no difference on my opinion. It has been a while since I read it, but I do remembering enjoying it. It was a decent book.
i only read half of it when i was in eighth grade, but i did like the beginning of it. Im probably going to read it agian, cuz i dont care if its fiction or not.
i liked both of them and also try reading his third book bright shiny morning, it is not related to his first 2 books but it is still good and it is appropriately labeled fiction
I've read many classic/cult books and this one was a pile of shit. And it really smells like shit when your mind connects that he was trying to pass off what happened in the book as his autobiography. I can't believe the ending hasn't been talked about. It seems like a sequel to the government's book Go Ask Alice. The whole summary of the book is: "Don't do drugs kids!"
