Hello! I had a few questions for the canadians.. 2. do cell phones from the US work up there? 3. If i have a bank account here, can i use it up there? thanks to all!!!
Ask your cell phone company. A pay-as-you-go account might not function. I know that when I set my cell up for my visit to the US I had to set up my pay-as-you-go onto a credit card 'cause they really really ding you for roaming in a different country. The great thing about banking, is that is can be done world wide with the right information. If you're talking more about just using your bank card, then your card will work fine at most real-bank machines. (I mean from a real banking institution and not just joe-blow-atm at the milk store)
do cell phones from the US work up there? -All depends on who your with. I just got a Telus Pay&Talk and I don't think it works in the States. Best thing to do is contact your cell company and ask. Or just check out their website. Info should be up there. If i have a bank account here, can i use it up there? -I really can't see why not. You might be charged a fee mind you if you decide to take money out of a bank up here.
Yes, and yes. You should let your bank know that you are travelling here however. Otherwise they could block your card if you just go ahead and try to use it, for fraud reasons.
Virgin phones do not work on the grid up here. Canadian Virgin phones will not work in the U.S. Most likely your bank will charge a fee when you access your money from here. I know it costs us more to use our card across the border.
