This almost sounds like something Jerry Falwell would have written. Religious symbolism aside, this is an old movie. All empires climb and then fall. People seem to go out of their way to describe such things in their religion of choice. Leave God out of it and blame the mortal men who make messes the rest of us have to clean up. x
My understanding of Revelation is that it is through us humans that God will bring about the new creation. Some even say that's why He became one of us. Hence the lines in William Blake's 'Jerusalem' - 'I shall not cease from mental fight nor shall my sword rest in my hand till we have built Jerusalem in England's green and pleasant land'.
The symbolism of humans being "God's Children" is quite correct. Within humans is the ability to create like no other creature. The sticky point is we create destruction in almost equal proportion to anything positive we create. We can't control it yet. And we certainly have trouble telling one from the other. Babylon happens when the destructive aspect is given more power. The new Jerusalem happens when gains are made from the destruction of old things. Both are needed, but neither is easy to control. x
