have seen the workprint version, rather than the theatrical version.
the film gives you much more background into michael and offers some explanations as to why he kills. its definately more of a reinterpretation, rather than a remake. am still largely undecided as to whether or not i like it. it has a lot of cons and the odd pro. my first reaction was that i didn't like it, but i am willing to give it another shot. its certainly worth watching, out of curiousity if nothing else.

I really liked it. I like how they show his childhood which gives light to why he's nuts. It is however inconsistent with the first movie when they show him very briefly as a child and his family seemed normal. But it's much better this way!

I thought it was terrible. If you saw one scene you know the rest of the movie, sex scene..death scene. Thats just my opinion of it. It was funny though...I'm John Grizzly Bitch.

a great original film ruined by a beyond horrible remake. waste of 109 min if you ask me.

the rape scene was completely unnecessary and so were the added details and the major exploitation of sex. eh, but what more could you expect from a film directed by rob zombie?

Rob Zombie is the shit in the horror genre. Watching the original (and all the sequels) is a tradition i partake in every year. When John Carpenter made Michael Meyers look like a pretty average kid it sort of amped up the freakiness of it all, and gave the movie a universal appeal making the viewer feel that it could happen to anyone anywhere. Whereas Carpenter mostly used sound effects to thrill his audience and shows things from the victims POV, Rob Zombie creates an entire freaky atmosphere like he did in House of 1000 corpses and he tends to focus on the killers' POV i.e. Devil's Rejects. I really want to see both this Halloween, but the geniuses who run the theaters where i live just stopped showing it. So I'll have to wait til next year i suppose.

I saw it and liked it...but I really hate that Rob Zombie had to declassify the Halloween slasher flick by shoving tit shots everywhere. (not that it was highly classy to begin with) But still... How are they going to run that on AMC in 5 years without editing the crap out of it?

It'll be released on dvd December 18th. Lots of extra features will be on it! Overall I thought the movie was fairly well made. The last 3rd of it was way too rushed. We got to see Lynda and Annie for a total of maybe 4 minutes.

I saw it but didn't like it, I mean the killings were pretty cool but the story was awful.

It's pretty good if you're not comparing it to the original. Even standing alone, though, it has its share of flaws. For one, we see too much adult Myers, as though he knows he can never get caught. In the original he was hiding behind bushes and sheds. We didn't know when he'd pop out. In the new one he's basically standing in the middle of the street. There wasn't enough suspense. It was very brutal, which of course is to be expected from Zombie. If anything this movie is like the original in that it reflects the "times". The world is even more scary now than it was back in '78.

I loved how the movie went back and explained why Michael was the way he is. I love everything Rob Zombie directs, movies and videos.

The movie was actually suprisingly good but when you see it keep in mind you are going to see a ROB ZOMBIE film not a John Carpenter one and It's " I'm JOE Grizzly bitch"

i really liked the audio commentary with rob. it was interesting how he came up against a lot of the same problems carpenter and his crew did, even on the significantly higher budget rob had. I also loved sheri moon as a stripper mom. Her breakdown scene really proved to me that she was much more than a pretty face that can sleep with an insanely successful musician/filmmaker.

I hated it as a remake of Halloween....but it was actually pretty good for a horror flick. So like someone else said, its Rob Zombie's movie, not John Carpenter's
