I went to college (it was an art school in Florida) with a girl that, I'm not kidding, I saw her wear shoes only once the entire first year of school and that was because it was like 20 degrees outside. Yes it does drop to 20 in Florida. Her soles were so black they were almost purple.

What can I say...I like socks, shoes, and slippers. That's why I don't visit this part of the forums much.

Yeah, we remember you, Nikko, the barefoot dude from NZ. Last we heard, you were doing a job picking apples barefoot and your employer didn't agree with it too much (I think that was you, last autumn; spring for us up here). :)

I wish I was in NZ. It's a more barefoot friendly place overall.

Last summer I went 1 week barefoot when I was in London. When I would get home at night my feet would be as black as the nite sky. I loved it and it was a great experience. I also went barefoot when I crossed Abbey Road.

Ah, forget those shoes. You can sell them off and get some of your money back.

We'll get you barefooted yet. :)

I guess going barefoot makes up for a slightly boring job dealing with millions of apples ! ;) I had a really naff job for a couple of summers when I was at school, basically washing and polishing cars at a garage about two kilometers away - after a few days I managed to go barefoot there and back + for lunch; and also barefoot a lot there. Very dull but I got a decent suntan; my mates thought i was mad at first, but by the end were a bit jealous of my fairly tough feet- I dont know what they would make of your feet Nikko !

The longest straight period of time I've been totally barefoot is about two years- one benefit of unemployment! Other than that, I used to have a job where I wore flip-flops that were worn down until there were large holes in the soles so I was practically barefoot all the time for like 7 years. And I only wore those flip flops when I had to walk around the office so most of the time they were off. Sometimes people noticed and asked why I had gaping holes in the bottoms of my flip-flops. I would tell them that it provided ample ventilation for my feet. While I attended university I went barefoot to most of my classes with no hassles. When I'm not working I'm always barefoot, especially in nature, going camping, hiking, travelling, etc. My friend described the soles of my feet as resembling the pads of dog paws. Shoes are so weird to me now. Such useless commodities; so uncomfortable, hot, and sweaty. How gross they are.

I highly doubt that will happen. I don't like the feeling of carpeting or grass on me feet...so if you're willing to put wooden floors and linoleum in every house I go to and pave over all the grass, then I'd try it. Good luck. ;)

Hmm. I don't know how anyone could not like the feeling of grass on bare feet. It's Nature's carpet and my favorite. :) Nature created us on grasslands.

Sometimes things feel overwhelming until you get used to them. We'll keep trying to convince you, though. :)

Around 18 months when I was unemployed. Not completely unbroken however, there were a couple of flights and 2 or 3 social events when I had to wear thongs or shoes for a few hours. Happy days!
