i'm taking my third year of german in school right now and i absolutly love it. i would really like to possibly live in germany when i'm a little older, probably in a nice small cute little town. i was wondering which ones there are that would be nice to live in, and also i think it would be neat to open my own little shop with things made by me, like bags and candles, things like that. i'm not sure how a shop like that would do in germany, i'm not really to sure what it's even like there so any information would be very nice to have. thanks everyone!!
Hi Aurora, nice you're interested in Germany. Yes, we have a lot of nice small towns here, of every kind. Personally, I live in one with 8500 inhabitants. Just the right size, not to big, not to small. The next bigger city is 4 kilometers away (75000 people), you can reach the motorway within 5 minutes (but due to the hilly landscape you can't hear it) and you are at the Frankfurt Airport in 40 Minutes, so it's just perfect here. But this has its price: You won't get a square meter of land to build a house on under 1000€. But of course I live in a very expensive region, if you move to Eastern Germany, prices are much much lower there. But you have a problem with unemployment over there... Hi Aurora, look at earlier threads here in this forum, some of your questions could be allready answered there. About nice small cute little towns, there are hundreds of them here and you should find a lot of info about them on american touristic weg pages. Openig a own little job needs the same luck, as it would need in the US. If your bags and candles are really good, you'll find a way, to sell them. You should come over as a tourist, as soon as possible, to find friends and contacts and get your own picture, whether you like more the regions near by the ocean or near by the mountains or in between, everything is possible. You'll see, that in some aspects, there is no big difference in the so called western world between the US and the others, McDonalds and Burger King are everywhere, here at Germany every child learns english at school, thus talking with people is no problem, if you need time, talking german by yourself. Versuch einfach mal hier, deutsch zu posten.
