So far I've considered myself lucky that Daytona is not half as bad as some would have you believe. I was told so many dirty things about this town before I moved here, and it's nothing like that. There ARE some rough spots, like any large city, but nothing too terribly bad. I am on the shores though, and most of the trouble is on the mainland, but even there it isn't that bad. People drive like assholes, but other than that, it's alright.
I can't figure out what place its at, but its the Columbus Discount Records showcase, on Wed March 12 would be awesome to at least have some beers, y'know?
I'll admit around Sanford, it was really nice, around the lake areas. I drove along the edge of the lake for awhile once I actually got out of Orlando, and that was nice.
You're a bad girl Cate. Yeah well. Dallas isn't really that bad for me. But I don't look like that much of a rube. Yeah, you should think about migrating to Austin someday though Snoop. It's a really artistic cool town.
Yeah without a doubt. I'll see you there man. I've been looking for an excuse to head to SXSW anyway.
I could see me sitting out on the grass playing a ukilele or something, humming along to the music in my head.
I lived there for years. One reason the roads suck so bad is all the water. They have to start and stop roads because of the lakes. Another problem is the constant construction that often means screwed up markets and very short exit ramps so you're in a panic coming or going. We left in 1999. Moved to Atlanta. Traffic here sucks too, but at least the money is MUCH better. Orlando employers low ball salaries because you're supposed to be glad to live in Florida for any money. A REALLY sucky employer is Disney. They expect you to act nice, to the nasty tourists who are already pissed off at YOU because the tickets are so freakin high and they let way too many people into the park so they end up in line all day. Also, since it's tourist driven, there's almost nothing to do in Orlando that doesn't cost and usually plenty. CF
Orlando is the bomb if you know your way around. I go every other week and I know that place like the back of my hand. Once you do, it's fun to see all the places. Sucks to hear you weren't so fortunate.
You wouldn't be the first. I always seem to get invited to some rainbow gatherings, there are tesla coil shows as far as the eye can see. Hippies everywhere.
The pay sucks so bad in Florida, it's amazing. But I wouldn't blame it on tourism in general. The pay in Gatlinburg was amazing too, but in a NICE way. Hell, I knew 15 year olds at McDonald's that made 8.50 an hour. How many places can you say that? There is a saying here though, "Florida Employers Pay You In Sunshine"
I'm in Dallas. It's probably a 4 hour drive. But if you want sure. My roomates will force feed you Congolese food.
Seriously?!? Most American teens only make 7.50 or below. The average at fast food places is about 6.50.
yeah i don't know i've never worked in a mcdonalds, but i know minimum wage is like 8 something now me thinks
