but that's the only thing in my house that will fill me up. i need some help with this. because it seemse like all those meat substitutes don't fill me up enough, and when i eat too much i get a stomach cramp.
Grains and beans are very filling. The problem might be that you aren't getting enough fat without eating meat. Fat keeps you full longer.
Vitamin B12!! That's what you're missing! Anyway, meat substitutes aren't everything. Try vegetable samosas, cheese, fruit, a sandwich. i've been vegetarian for nearly 2 weeks now and I eat anything isn't meaty. My problem is that I really fill up on chocolate!
you need something with fat and protein, protein especially. It takes longer for your body to break down and process it, which is why it makes you feel "full". Try beans (chili, dip, burritos, salad), eggs (make an omelet with tvp and cheese), I personally like to eat whole avocadoes to fill me up. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Textured_vegetable_protein
Ok, the poster basically said he was eating meat and wants to stop. How did you get "needs B-12" out of that? B-12 is stored, and takes several months to deplete the stores alone, and most veg diets with a full spectrum multi-vitamin get enough. anyway, back to the question: full comes from fiber, and satisfied comes from fat. whole grains and plant fats (including the lowly peanut butter) should get you over a hump. also, for many new veggies, easing in and cutting down over a month or so can work wonders.
Hang on, I think my mind was on another thread when I typed that! Oh I know what it was, I thinking along the lines of your body craves what you need. Need to explain a bit better next time!
Beans, seeds, nuts, whole grains such as barley whole wheat pasta, long grain rice and so on. Eat a well rounded mix of foods. Fresh fruit, fresh and cooked veggies, also include greens such as raw spinich, and dark leafy greens. I don't eat any fake meats or soy products, no eggs or dairy and i do not feel hungry anymore. I think your body goes through a withdrawal of sorts that will take some time to adjust. Eat a well rounded diet. Try to lay off of excessive sweets, fried foods, and junk food. Also, be sure to drink your recommended (8) 8 oz glasses of water a day. Dehydration can be mistaken as hunger pains. Stay strong and your body will adjust. I for one feel 200 times better now that i don't eat meat. -Ann
organic pb&j's on whole grain bread are the best thing in the world when you need a quick filler. I also keep alot of different nuts on hand. And I make alot of veggie soups and chili's made with alot of beans and they fill you up quick and are really good for you. Invest in a crock-pot!
Stop making me huuungry!! I haven't eaten since breakfast, I'm going to pig out on crackers and cream cheese when I get in!
don't eat anything for 2 days. just water and juice. (this is called fasting and it's good once or twice a year) then eat again and just don't eat meat. you'll feel so fantastic and light that you'll just want to dance. I know I do
nynysuts- Just be careful when it comes to dairy products. You may find that you gain weight with more consumption of dairy.
I am just saying. Weight gain can be an issue with increased amounts of dairy. Not to mention it can be high in cholesterol depending on the type you are eating. You look young so these issues may not worry you yet.
well, I do drink a lot more soya products than milk products. I'm 16, so I don't suppose anything will have caught up with me yet. I just have a cheese weakness which stops me from giving up milk!
