i'm only an asshole on the road...but thats because i'm a masshole and i'll run anyone off the road for looking at me wrong
maybe people are just mean in Massachussetts i wouldn't know because I can't understand what they are saying
I give up my seat for anybody, not Just Elderly or Pregnant woman. @ lovely Don't worry about it. Continue to be kind, expect slammed doors, expect alot of Negativity. But it's worth it, especially when you know someone appreciates it.
I am so thankful I don't have the Massachusetts accent! I have my own accent. I pronounce the RRRRRR's where they belong and I leave them out where they shouldn't be (for instance, my dad says "ahtha" instead of "arthur" and he says "idear" instead of "idea") Massachusians are known for being assholes. Hence the name "massholes." When I lived in PA, it was awesome because people were SOOO nice compared to here. and thanks Slyde. I'm going to continue to be nice and generous to people. Maybe someday, it'll rub off on some of them!
haha fitz. What I love most is people who say bo-awstin. Kevin does it and I want to murder him each time. I'm used to it now just because everyone around here forgets that the R plays a big part in the alphabet. I think it's funny most of the time.
in a way, i find it to be a chain reaction and also has stereotypical factors included... if you hold the door open for someone for example, you may have made their day, which in turn they may do something nice. i work in retail, and i greet them and smile, some return the gesture with a smile, while others act as if you don't exsist. well.. i dont let it bother me, just means they are bitter and hate life.. haha... but sadly to admit, the world is getting ruder and ruder by each generation.. and hopefully it will change.. but i think some of the reason is people do a nice gesture say holding the door, then there is no "thanks" so they just don't do it anymore.. well.. see.. if ppl just ignored all the mean and bitter people.. then we still have time for our society to be a bit cheerful. peace
When I used to work in retail it totally depressed me how people were often so rude or treated me like I didn't exist. I took it too personally I guess. I'm always friendly to people, I would never be rude to a total stranger and so I don't get how some people can act that way. A smile doesn't cost you anything but it does make such a big difference.
it took me two days to understand what my uncle was saying. he lives in cambridge. then his daughter came to live with us. she was a hippie/bonstonian. fucking impossible.
1. Check with Gloria Steinem, NOW, or like-minded groups. 2. I don't find this forum loaded with polite people. You have my sympathy. 3. We have become a nation that discusses sensitivity, sends people to sensitivity training sessions, and all the while vulgarity rules. Often as a result of the actions of members of the sensitivity police acting outside of their official assignments, which are essential 8 to 5 jobs. However, to be philosophical, relativism rules and without an absolute moral code either there is no reason or incentive to be polite or no understanding of what it is to be polite. If God is Dead, who cares? Ever read the Love and Sex group postings?
