This morning i thought i was just dreaming but no there was infact rain i thought this to be a nice surprise. Any other vegasers get some rain?
I didn't, but a friend of mine did. He lives around Flaming west of Buffalo. Says he got wet, but only for a few minutes. I'm near the Palms and didn't get a drop.
yea it didnt rain to hard over here (by summerlin) but its enough to where i need to rewash my car haha
Bonanza and Bruce got just enough to get the pavement wet, but that was it. That's the thing with isolated t-boomers, it can rain on one side of the street and be dry on the other, it is totally hit and miss. I tell ya though, I have lived in Vegas now for, oh crap, has it been 28 years? Yeah, it has, and I am so sick of the desert. I hate the heat, I hate the dryness, I hate the lack of 4 seasons, I hate the dust and the dirt and well, I guess I just hate it all. But I am stuck here. Own my own house, but their are leins from Medicaid which prevent me from selling and moving elsewhere. So, I guess I just got to make the best of it until I hit Megabucks or the California lottery or Powerball.
I know the feelin bro. I'd LOVE to get back to northern Minn. Or maybe I'd settle for Oregon or even somewheres in Canada. That's the way the weather is here tho. Just like a tornado. It's hit/miss.
My family originated from Iron Mountain, Michigan, and I have spent time in that area. My uncle worked for 30 years at the Minneapolis Airport. Another uncle was from Crivits, Wisconsin, home of the snowmobile championship races. Yeah, I wouldnt mind being there either. And I am part Canadian, so I would feel at home in Canada. I definitely think I would like most to stay along the west coast though. In fact, my favorite place of all is the Eastern Sierras of California, just a 7 hour drive from here. The area in between Bishop and June Lake along US 395, including Mammoth Lakes, is some of the prettiest country I have ever seen. This is the Eastern Sierras, where I want to finish my life at.
Them pics look almost like Tahoe. Now ya see, thats why we have a camping forum to teach these dummies to WATCH the damn fire. It is our monsoon season now, as you guys have heard. Fuck we need the water!
i wish it rained here it is sooo freakin hot holy shit!!! when i say rain i mean pourin down rain for a couple of hours that would be awesome. Do u remember like 4-5 years ago there was a huuuge rain storm and it started flooding. That day was awesome
Well, just a small amount of rain fell last night. Again, as soon as the storms came close to the valley, they dissipated and the lightning subsided. I keep waiting for a full blown t-boomer to come through the valley so I can get some decent pics. Guess I will have to keep waiting. I did get 2 lightning shots from last night's storm, but they arent as good as previous shots I have taken. This is from Bonanza and Bruce looking north up Bruce St. towards Sheep peak.
And I will be there with my camera. I love taking pics of lightning as no 2 pics are ever the same, and you dont ever know what to expect.
i missed these last couple lightning storms i was out of town. but there is suppose to be one tomorrow and one tuesday.
Yep! There was late Monday evening. Zilla, I hope you got some pics worthy of HD TV broadcast! You've been known to get some GREAT shots! Send 'em in Bro! The pics I love best are the timelapse-multi strike ones. You can expect more on da WAY! I watch the MSN doppler for The southwest.
Certain places flood no matter what. Like the Koval lane entrance to the Imperial Palace. Ceasars used to get it real bad too before they built the Forum Shops. I think we'll still get a bit of flooding.
Well, I cant seem to get any decent shots lately from the house here. Everything seems to die out once it makes it into the valley. All I am seeing from the house is flashes from off in the distance, very little bolt action. I am getting quite frustrated at this. Yesterday seemed to have plenty of action to the west, but I was too busy running errands around town and didnt have my camera with me. Oh well, not only are the storms hit and miss, but so is my timing as I am much more busy these days with certain things. But I keep trying. Meanwhile, here are a couple of my favorite lightning shots I took last year. If you want to see more, pics can be viewed at this link http://s110.photobucket.com/albums/n96/not_me_again/lightning/?start=0
Believe it or not, it is starting to rain, joy, joy. It doesnt happen to often here, but it is nice when it does. ANd looks like we just might have a good steady rain for a few hours. I do have to get my sister to a doctor's appointment in a half an hour, so that means I will have to drive amongst the idjuts out there who dont know how to drive in the rain, but, also, my car does need a washing, and this is about the only time when that will happen as I am too lazy too wash the car myself.
Hell. They are saying SNOW for next Tuesday the 22nd of Jan. That's a problem because my wife walks to the #202 Flamingo at 4:30 in the morning. Brrrrrr.
