Any fans of the genre around here?

In Flames, Soilwork, Dark Tranquillity, Arch Enemy, Kalmah, The Haunted, The Duskfall, Mercenary, Amon Amarth, At the Gates, Scar Symmetry.... so many good bands that fall into this categroy.

Not a fan, but I once flew around the whole crowd of In Flames at Wacken while crowdsurfing! So I have to say they obviously are good live :D
Amon Amarth isn't bad at all neither, but that's probably because it leans a bit towards the scandinavian viking metal, which I do dig very much at times!

How can you listen to melodeath metal and not listen to In Flames...thats just crazy!

Of all the bands I listed Soilwork is probably my favorite, they kick so much ass.

I'm just starting to get into Kalmah after a friend recommended them to me. They are really good.

Hell yeah. I prefer a lot of variety in it though. Such as bands like November Doom, Theatre of Tragedy, and Tristania. I know the latter two bands are considered doom metal, but that is basically what I think of when I hear melodic death metal.

I think Theatre of tragedy and Tristania are typical gothic metal bands. Not part of the Gothenburg sound at all. Theatre of tragedy have some doomy influences on their early albums, that's what I liked most of them. They changed ways some time ago though, I'm not even sure if it can be called metal nowadays.

I have their first 2 cd's and thats about it. I haven't heard much of their newer stuff so if they changed, then I dunno. I still consider them mostly doom metal and thats what they are officialy labeled as.

November's Doom is doom too. Melodic death-y doom. If you like them, you should try Saturnus, they'll be right up your alley.

that shit used to rock so hard. i don't know why but i've lost my taste for a lot of the metal i used to like. i still have some dark t, haunted, soilwork, and lobotomy... not to mention the entire in flames discography, but i haven't listened to that in quite a while. the jester race still rocks though
