It was a pretty big story in the UK when it happened, her parents allowed the photos of her in the coma to be shown in the press and they went to fuckin town on it. The shear quantity of complete bullshit scaremongering that followed in the months after was suffocating, some of the half-facts published in the tabloid "newspapers" and pseudo-jounalism screened on telly was laughable. I remember reading everything from "90% of all ecstacy pills contain rat poisin" to "leading doctor warns ticking time bomb of ecstacy could kill thousands in coming years". Only the Times and one or two of the more repectful media outlets I seem to remember even metioned the cause of death being hyper hydration, most went with headlines like "Evil killer drug claims another innocent life".
