RT people: Do you read all the replies to a thread before you post?

I was just curious if all of you read all the replies before you post on a thread in RT or other Hipforums thread.

Or do you just post an answer to the question or topic without reading the replies first.

I do both with no rime or reason. Was wondering what other people do.

Stupid question perhaps. But I got nothing else going on right now.

And this was a random thought!

 

If its an interesting topic, I read all the posts.
If not, I just answer the first post.

 

depends,,, sometimes i read them all sometimes just some.. if its a huge diatribe i just skim n sometimes i just completely ignore the thread altogether if it is just too long of an initial post...

 

i try to read all posts before I post and often you see that some opinions are stated several times and sometimes that´s kinda useless, but then again, who is crazy of bored enough to read throufg 200 post before staing their own opinion?

BTW sometimes i read large posts interesting threads when i'm bored,....

 

If it is a short thread such as this one, then I do read/skim through all the posts. If it's a longer thread - I may pick a particular point from a separate poster and discuss that idea. If it's a thread I love, I'll pick my way through it merely for amusement reasons.

I agree with the OP and find that it really depends on my mood.

 

depends on how many pages of responses i have to read.

 

I tend to feel disrespectful if I don't read everyone's answer before chiming in myself. Makes me either not post or only reply to short topics (Like this one, so far.) Probably something I should change.

 

i usually read all the replies. exceptions are threads where people are writing extremely long pointless answers, or threads where 2 or 3 people go off topic and hit on each other for 10 straight pages. if there are too many pages and they don't go off topic, i usually just ignore the thread unless the subject is really interesting or i'm really bored.


it bothers me when i make a point and then a page later someone else makes the exact same point as though they just thought of it themselves, so i try to not be that person to anyone else

Generally speaking, no.

However, I rarely open most threads in the first place. If I'm reading something on here it is written by someone that I find interesting or have come to admire or 'know' to some degree. You can be sure I'm reading your stuff if you're trying to be funny. That is the key to my heart.

I will tend to read the long drawn out threads more than the short ones though, as they are more interesting. Rarely will I participate unfortunately but that is only because it is tougher to find things to be funny about in a serious talk.

BTW... did anyone feel an earthquake at around 8:45 this morning. I swear there was one.
