Part 1: Here in the U.S. can a state choose no longer to be a state? If so, would that de-state, so to speak, turn into being an extension of D.C. automatically? Or would any of the states close by get to make the former state become an extension of their state in whole or in portion? In what ways can a state fail being a state or even stop being a state? Part 2: Who represents the state? Can they oppose allowing the state to be a state? Can they shut down the whole state government down to even the local government? Also, can a state seperate itself from the U.S.? What prevents that from happening if anything?
In the past it was guns, lots of guns. Should a State try it today, probably the same thing, though I think things are more complicated today than they were in the 1800's. Most people have family and friends living in other States. Would they really want to point a gun at them? I hope not but maybe I am just optimistic.
